Description I wanted to try something different from my "normal" work. Not sure how far removed it is from that but think it is a slightly diverse direction!?

THE JOURNEY

Spacers had been telling stories about these curiosities for years; millennium old stone structures, decrepit arches covered in vegetation ... none of it native to the planets they were on. The touched the sky these huge, giants. Silent sentinels and no one knew exactly what they were.

Rumors ran rampant; some said you could pass through the Gate to another dimension, others told that it would transport you 100’s maybe even 1000's of light years a quick as a thought … some claimed they had time travel capabilities… or that they could reverse the aging process … or … well the whispers and tall tales were so divergent stories who knew the truth.

Danalon, her partner and a communications whiz had picked up a signal ... he'd been certain it lead to a “Gate” somewhere in the Zeta-39 region of Ghostrider Nebula. So they gathered a crew (those men and women desperate or crazy enough to risk it) and left Tau Ceti light years and life years behind.

And now they had found one! Finally they were almost at the end of their journey but they still didn't know if the years lost in freeze had been worth it? What would they find in the mist below or in the Gate towering above them?

Thanks!
Not sure what it is about SF but it always takes me a bit to get going with them. I really enjoy doing them but I am never sure if I like them while I am working on them or even when I am done.  I always think that they look different than my other images so maybe that is what makes me second guess them when I'm done.

I really like your SF images ... and they have your signature look

Good luck to you too

Actually, I feel the same about my own concepts and final results. I am NEVER satisfied with my works, and also I see that you are like this!
But you did a great job here, it's very consistent. I would love to reduce my habit to exceed on lights in my manips, I love manips how you did here, no excess, an equilibrated lighting, very convincing!

Yeah ... occasionally I like something I do but often that only last a while and then I find something I think will improve it.

Perhaps it is the bane of photo manipulation ... you can change things with somewhat greater ease than with traditional art ... not that it is easy ... just that you can mess with a piece easier ... you don't have to "paint-out" something to see what it will look ... you just have to turn off the layer

I also think that there are so many GREAT artist on dA (you included) that it can be both an inspiration and a burden ... when I am in my "I don't like anything I am creating and I am crap at this" mood it is hard to see all the incredible artwork and not compare my work to it. And when I do start comparing I usually come up wanting ... wanting more skill, more imagination, more knowledge, more talent and even more confidence!

Then I go through my Favorites Folders and just soak in the glory and eventually a SWITCH goes on (or off???) in my brain and I am inspired again. All the "wanting" vanishes and the only thing left is the CREATING!

I felt that way when I say your (Dani-Owergoor ) Long Way to Home or (SilEnigmaArts ) The Bone Collector ... among many others ... they were both intimidating and inspiring all at once.

Human nature is so silly ... at least my nature is ... I go through the same spurts of doubt and confidence as a lot of people but (like a lot of people) I think I am the only one! I truly appreciate your sharing, it makes me feel a part of the "Bigger Picture"! There are certainly some wonderful people here on dA ... it is a good and welcoming home for artist and art lovers!

Giant hug again ...

OMG, OMG... you're just...... Like me!!!! Or I am just.... like you!!!!

Honey, I "suffered" a lot for all this you are saying, I know exactly, I mean exactly how you feel!

Last year I spend a long time searching for a good course of Digital Illustration because my desire is to combine both techniques, PM and Illustration. I admire a lot artists that can do this, I mean, think about it, you are doing a photomanip and you need a source that you can't find (or for free) on the stock sites, then, you can create it to add to you job. Or, you just improve your photomanip with your painting techniques...

For example:

       (Go big on them)

All PM + painting.

After almost 1 year, I found a School near my home (really near, 3 minutes walk!) and most impressive, this girl will be my teacher, take a look in her gallery:

shantalla.deviantart.com/galle…  I will start in the end of March.

Everything because I NEED to improve, I need to learn more I hate to look at my pieces and see so many flaws, I hate when I can't reach what I have in mind because my skills are week....  and blah, blah, blah.... Hahahaha....

And another thing, this is my work too. I work with covers and I must to know more, I had refused some jobs because I have no Illustration skills....

Btw, thank you so much for seeing a reference on my "Long Way To Home", and I love Karla's works too (SilEnigma), her pieces have sooo many details!

Aww sorry for the long reply!! Hahaha....

Well, have a wonderful weekend, sweets! And please, you're not alone on this...........

You are so powerful artist, and I know you from my start in DA , and I saw how you produce and develop in artworks,
And I want to tell you that how lucky you are to joined in a school art , In my country there is no school art
Wish you luck and I know that someday you become one of best artist in the DA and The digital art world.

This is hilarious ... I am trading photoshop lessons for drawing lessons from this  lady ... www.melissaduncan.ca/ (I am also going to set up a dA account for her). She is an incredible artist and we have very similar tastes in art!

It's all good ... love the images you showed ... have a good weekend too (it's snow here today so I think I will stay home and play on my artwork). Later
