Scorch is the son of Princess Celestia and Dragon Lord Ember. He's the first recorded dragon-pony hybrid in Equestrian history.

He's a rather shy guy to ponies he hasn't met before. As a little kid, he had a pretty weak immune system, so he got sick a lot. Heck, as a toddler, it was very rare for anyone in the castle to NOT see him sick. As such, he didn't really go outside a lot, or if he did it was mainly in the garden. So he doesn't really know how to communicate well with ponies.

His special talent, like Celestia's, is raising the sun. However, unlike Celestia, he has the ability to raise it so high it actually causes heatwaves. Since his first sun raising at 7, he's learned to control it better. Although his sunrises still make for hotter daytimes. He mainly controls the summer season.

Unlike his older cousin, many ponies are very wayward about him. He wasn't out in the day much, he accidentally created the hottest day Equestria's ever seen, and unlike Sova, who only had a pair of fangs, he had an enormous set of pointy canines. There was a lot of prejudice towards him from ponies for a while. It has since lessened, mainly from more acceptance as more dragon-pony hybrids, like Sparks and Fireball, became about, but he still receives some scorn from those who don't see him as fit to rule.

- For reasons unknown, he is the only dracony who has a cutie mark. Though some mainly excuse it as part of his alicorn magic.

- Even after his immune system strengthened, he still has some health problems. He can fly, but not to very long distances, and starts to suffocate if near too much smoke (dragons have to be careful about that around him).

- He despises the winter. While he likes the snow, he doesn't like that he's always too sick to enjoy it.

- He later grows to care for a small flock of baby phoenixes during his youth. One of which actually becomes Phoenix's pet, Pendleton.

- He's very close to Torch. Even if his grandfather could squish him with his own pinky.

- His favorite place to be is in the Canterlot Gardens. Through much of his childhood, this was his main exposure to the rest of Equestria outside the castle walls, and it's become a place of comfort for him.

- He has a love for shiny things. In fact, he almost ate the Bloodstone Scepter and the Crystal Heart one time.

- He has a large love for magic history. He could probably tell you all about Starswirl's life to the smallest detail if you asked him too. He's kind of a dork in that way.
