Description Look familiar? This A5 landscape format artbook is something of the twin of the blue book I posted a few minutes ago, cut from the same hide and polished with beeswax. The difference is that this one is made from some very nice 190gsm Daler Rowney watercolour paper, suitable for all your finest paintings, jottings and musings.

SOLD: should you wish to buy (what a wonderful person you are), just comment or note me here, or visit the Facebook page: [link]

Helloooooooooooooooooo

I've been looking through some of your books and they are fantastic, you're pretty good at these. I was just wondering how easy it is to use watercolour paper for binding in books and stuff. I've tried it a little and my paper doesn't fold or bend well enough for me to bind with them properly.
Also, how much do you sell these books for?

Hi! Glad you like my books.
I use watercolour paper quite often (to make artbooks and so on). It's not too bad to work with for binding, though the thickness can be a bit of a challenge. The important thing, as ever with bookbinding, is to work with the grain, as watercolour papers can have quite a strong grain to them.
You'll find it easier to work with watercolour paper if you apply a bit of pressure - fold the sections neatly with a bone folder, then leave them to press down properly under a pile of books or between a couple of bits of wood (or in a press or vice if you have one). Leave them overnight, then do the sewing, press them again, then move onto the gluing and construction of the spine.

As for how much I sell them for - it varies, depending on the size of the book and cost of materials. I aim to sell them to cover the cost of what went into them and the tools that made them. This means that they're usually between £20 and £50 GBP. I only have one (miniature) book on sale at the moment, but when I have new stuff I sell it through my Facebook page: [link]

This is beautumous! I wish that I wasn't so broke!
Hrrm, I don't think its legal to make a profit of of somebody else's work (TARDIS), but if you only charge the price of materials, that would probably be fine.

Yes, quite - I don't know where the lack of profit would put the book legally (IP is IP regardless of profit) but I doubt it is something the BBC would be interested in pursuing, given the large number of Tardis fan-books in circulation these days.
(Plus, provided I did not make use of BBC brands by not directly describing it as DW or Tardis related, it would probably be quite hard to prove any infringement)

Hi,
I think I'm rather interested for a TARDIS art book, if you could make it. This really seems very nice! A few questions: How much is it for the total cost of the book and shipping? How do I pay? And also, how many pages are there in an art book?
Thanks!

I could indeed make one for you, though it might take a while.

How much it would cost would depend on the size and thickness of the book (because of the quantity of materials used and the weight affects the cost of shipping) but I should think it would be in the region of £50+shipping,* with shipping costing £7-10 to the US.
(Though I will probably be in the USA next month, so if I made it before then I could take it by plane then post it domestically which might save a little money, but I have a very busy month coming up so I don't know if I will have time to make it before June)

* I should add that that's the cost of materials + tools - I don't make a profit from these, so the price is as fair as I can make it!

It's TARDIS-coloured!

Hmm, do you know, I didn't think of that (being only an incidental watcher)... It does have that Tardissy hue to it. Maybe I'll use the rest of the hide to make a fully-upholstered TARDIS one of those TARDIS-books that seem to keep popping up here and there on dA, but I don't know if it would sell...

I'm betting it would sell. The fan base is large and obsessive.
A fully upholstered TARDIS would sell even faster...
