Story

Sun burst over the drumlins like a water ballon soaking everything in light. Spring was definitely arriving as birds flitted around in whorls among the tree blossoms, all dancing in the wind. Alnwick was quiet and sleepy, as to be expected, but the Saxony grounds were already full of life. The upcoming Tournament meant that their spaces were increasingly busy every day, and as many people as possible were staying in the Saxon home building; you could hardly move for falling over a spare mattress or suitcases. The morning chores were well out of the way, and Lexi was buzzing around the place trying to keep tabs on everyone but she wasn't having much luck.
"Hey!"
"What?"
Ink popped her head out from round the door to the offices. Her deshevelled hair hadn't been in particulary good shape this morning but the wind from running after the youngstock made it infinitely worse.
"What are you doing today? I was gonna make waffles and bacon."
In's stomach groaned, food sounded good.
"But today is a nice day! I was going to note the diary and go out for a bit..."

That escalated quickly... Lexi was thinking as she trailed around outside. Somehow Ink's idea of an outing had turned into a Cross Country run for anyone going to Equicolour. The tangle of spindly limbs, dark leather and blue shirts bobbed around the courtyard as everyone got leg-ups and reined their steeds in an attempt to be organised. Only the Skye-Wilde horses were competing but the array of people who had turned up gave testament to how competitive everyone was. The seven runners all pawed the ground with their hooves as the people chattered eagerly. A squeaking noise caught the crowd's attention for a few seconds before a rich male voice told everyone to shut up or he'd personally make the horses bolt.
"... Thanks Farai?" Ink said cautiously, as the tall man tried to simultaneously steady his bouncing steed and nod his head at her.
"Right guys, we're going the valley route to make sure these beasts know what the terrain will vagely be like. Unfortunately we can't provide the nice weather or the magical surroundings but Alnwick will have to do..." Rory chirped.
Everyone knew the route they would be taking well enough to get ambitious. From Rory's height advantage he could see Nina and Beatrix making a quiet bet, and Sammy whispering to Katherine about which horse he thought looked best. Even Kitty had dragged herself out with her broken leg to have a chat with Ashvin and Coco.

Thunder came from clear skies as their noise rode the wind. The route followed the river to a certain extent before ducking back round and skirting the town, and people were beginning to notice. 4 mares, 2 geldings and a stallion made demanding leaps and traversed the terrain with ease, like a pack of dogs in all colours and sizes. The air felt thick to the riders, practically flying through the atmosphere on borrowed wings. Dirt and grass flew wherever they turned. The animals were revelling in their outing, pushing themselves on to catch the one ahead. The sun was enough to make the day warm while the air was enough to keep everyone from overheating. Coats glimmered in the new daylight as the pack of riders leapt the stream; Glory in flight.

Today was definitely a good day to be a horse.

I'm insane so i'll be entering all seven of these pairs to Equicolour, sounds like a good idea so why not. Training time.
