PERSONAL ☂
+ Well-Tempered // Conciliatory // Eloquent // Adaptable // Clever // Charming
Yu Yan may be a bit silent and unfocused, but when the time arises to conquer her foes or forge her path, she can be quite the force to be reckoned with. When she’s not in her own little world, she is a clever, charming, and well put together lady. She knows when to pull together her thoughts and focus on the task at hand. She always grew up with her sister taking care of her, so instead of worrying about mundane daily tasks, Yu Yan instead focused on studying proper behavior and things she deemed would make her an adequate ally for her sister. Yu Yan amassed an infantry of knowledge and a sharp mind to put it to use. She could be dazed, mind completely blank, and then whip out her class project, effectively and precisely delivering the fruits of her studies. She is also very well-tempered, which probably stems from her uncompetetiveness and the fact that she doesn't deeply think about others words. She accepts harsh words as harsh words and moves on, not thinking much about them.
= Absent Minded (Airy) // Enigmatic // Noncompetitive // Literal
Yu Yan often retreats into her own little world, she zones out at the snap of a finger. She could be walking somewhere, doing a mundane task, or even lose track of the convo between friends, and suddenly her mind is completely elsewhere. Just as quickly as she can focus, she can completely blank out. This doesn't seem to pose a problem for Yu Yan, however inconvenient it may sound. She can easily focus and act properly whenever she needs to, her mind is just simply prone to wondering when there seems to not be anything else that is very apparently important. Because she is naive about many things, Yu Yan tends to tackle the unknown elements in a "by the book" sort of way. However things are explained, is how she deals with them, she doesn't think too much or question anything. This mainly influences her chosen career, since she is supposed to be completely "unbiased". Because she is told to "not include emotions and rely completely on regulation" that is exactly how she tackles it. She doesn't think about the situations in a moral sense but instead completely by how the facts correlate with the regulations that match them. This does however bleed into her everyday life a bit. She takes things very literal but tends to ignore the things that are inconvenient or unaligned with herself. If someone told her that her clothes were ugly, she would quickly accept that her clothes are ugly but not think much of it. If someone told her she was too tall, again, she would accept it, but not dwell or put any thought into it. This doesn't mean she can't think for herself, she just tends to not put much thought into the things that don't affect her very much. Just because she is told the clothes are ugly doesn't mean she will suddenly view them as ugly. This is where the "not much thought" part is quite prominent. She accepts the clothes are ugly "with not much thought" therefore she quickly accepts that they have been viewed as ugly without deeply thinking about the term "ugly" or what it means for her clothes to be ugly.
- Careless // Gullible // Child-like // Oblivious // Impulsive // Self-Indulgent
Yu Yan’s every need as a child(, adolescent, and young adult) was completely and utterly fulfilled by her older sister. She lived a very sheltered life and she has not grown up very much. She is still quite child-like in some of her behaviors and thoughts. Although she is very intelligent and does well in her studies, she is also very naive in other aspects. She has trouble using public transportation, she does her best to not create big messes because she simply doesn't know how to clean it, she also doesn't think much about her actions. This is when her oblivious/self-indulgent/careless personality comes into play. Because her sister coddled her, she didn't have to think much about her actions. It was never a big problem because Yu Yan was such a well behaved child, but she has become a bit lacking in common sense and is a bit too trusting/obedient towards others.

HISTORY ☂
[Reason for moving] “School”
[How long they have lived in town] 4 weeks
Yu Yan spent most of her adolescence alone with her older sister (by 9 years). When she was around the age of 11, her father was transferred due to work, and since her sister was reluctant to go due to school, Yu Yan had the option of either going with her parents or staying with her sister. Yu Yan's sister had always been the one to mainly take care of her, their parents were always very busy with work, so it made a lot of sense to Yu Yan to stay with her sister. Luckily for her sister, Yu Yan was a very mellow and obedient child. She understood their parents still loved them and never complained or threw fits. She never actually felt that sad about their absence (not only because of all the calls and presents) but because as much as Yu Yan loved her sister, her sister deeply loved her. She would meticulously care for Yu yan each and every day, cooking her delicious meals, sleeping with her, and bathing with her. Her sister had become Yu Yan’s everything and the two often spent much of their time stuck to each other. Yu Yan’s favorite moments, which happened every morning, was when her sister would dress her up, picking out delicate frills, flowy gowns, and intricate lace to adorn her petite frame. She loved the attention and compliments her sister would shower her with.
Their time living alone together lasted quite long and as Yu Yan grew, so did the compliments and love she received from her sister, and her dependency on them. When Yu Yan finally realized that all her sister’s love was no longer directed solely at her, it was already too late. Her sister soon got married and presented her with a difficult decision. Yu Yan was already legally an adult, she could either move in with her sister’s new family or live on her own. Her sister strongly pushed for Yu Yan to come with them but also wanted to give her space. Yu Yan had a rough time adjusting to the new development and ended up running away to college. She followed in her parents' footsteps, picking the same law school, to which they happily provided financing for. Although the location of her housing was a bit inconvenient for the college, her loneliness brought her to a childhood friend in a small town called Lichbarrow. With school and a familiar face, Yu Yan thought she could take her mind off her troubles, but the time she spent away form her sister was unbearable. Her only solace seemed to be through the clothes her sister seemed to be so happy to put on her.
Not too soon after moving, Yu Yan found new hope. It was a drowsy Sunday morning in the quaint little coffee shop she had found herself a frequent resident of since her move. She settled down in the small booth, using her steaming porcelain cup to warm her hands and lull her into a daze as she let her eyes wander to the peaceful scene behind the window. Her attention (or seemingly lack of it) was only broken when she heard a sturdy “Hi.” come from the previously empty seat in front of her. Slowly, she turned her head and gazed at the unfamiliar face. Without a moment's hesitation, Yu Yan responded, a sweet “Hello” slipping from her lips. A few heartbeats later the latter responded again, another “Hi” finding its way across the table. Without much thought, Yu Yan gave a polite bow, a courteous “It’s very nice to meet you” softly escaped as her eyes curiously met the strangers. Hesitatingly bowing back, the stranger suddenly reached into a leather briefcase roughly propped against the side of their chair, their nimble fingers revealing a crisp stack of papers. The stranger gave Yu Yan one last glance before they promptly slid her the stack of papers, they then retreated their hands to rest, clasped, in front of them. Yu Yan, slightly taken aback, carefully reviewed the multitude of papers presented to her. The further she read, the more interested she became, and when she had finally reached the end, she looked up to the fabulously new stranger, her eyes seemed to sparkling like a thousand twinkling stars. A few silents moments passed and finally, the stranger spoke up again “I-I like your face”.
With quick actions, the two sealed the deal and Yu Yan officially became Cecilia's model.

EXTRA ☂
☂ Yu Yan can fall sleep anywhere
☂ She has trouble remembering people's faces.
☂ Yu Yan's mother is a bit impulsive and is actually the one who bought Fēng and Xiao.
☂ Although the history makes her parents sound like cold workaholics, Yu Yan's parents are actually really doting and clingy. They were the one's who were the most heart broken over the move.
☂ Yu Yan's parents financially supported her and her sister completely until her sister got out of college and started her residency training at a medical facility. Although Yu Yan and her sister were capable of financing themselves, their parents still continued to send "allowance"
☂ Yu Yan earned her Bachelors degree while still living with her sister and is now attending law school.
☂ Her personality may sound a bit "out there" and extreme but I promise it's pretty mellow.
☂ In case it's not obvious, Yu Yan's relationship with her sister is pretty obsessive. In case your feeling a bit weirded out about it, that's completely normal. Their relationship is not particularly detrimental but it's definitely not a super healthy one. I don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to normalize an unhealthy relationship but don't worry! The time apart definitely helps heal it and eventually Yu Yan will be able to wholeheartedly embrace her sisters new family
☂ Yu Yan's childhood friend is named Haru. They grew up together in America but eventually Haru moved to Japan and they lost touch for a bit (Although He's back and lives in Lichbarrow now). He's the closest person to Yu Yan except for her sister so when she decides to leave home, she ends up running away to him.
