I'm afraid I must say that I don't like this manipulation that much. It looks like you have sharpen the image a bit, which causes spots. This would be okay if everything would be in the same style, but the skin and hair of the lady is normal, like a photograph. If it was your intention to make artwork using the collage technique (often seen in pop-art), a cleaner production is imperative.
Although the mouse is in the center, one cannot directly see it's there.

I am very sure this image would have turned out to be wonderful if you used high resolution photos, and left it unedited. Or, you could have made everything look sharp, but you would be forced to remove the mouse, then, as otherwise the mouse will get swallowed by the pink spots (that are shown at the moment) in the image. I am sorry for my limited proficiency of explaining things, and I would also like to apologize for my rather negative comment. I hope it is useful for you.

I actually despeckled twice - the image was fairly low res (didn't save the larger one as I used it for practice).

I wanted the mouse to be hidden so that it appeared to be a secret spot for him to chat with the girl - so that other people in the house wouldn't see him

I fully understood your explanation and I appreciate feedback - thank you kindly for taking the time to do so.

Yes, after my comment I checked the images you've used. I must say that the background wasn't a clean high resolution picture. I'm glad you don't get offended by my comment. I once had constructive criticism about some artwork, and not the creater of the artwork but the model that got used got very offended, and we ended up in a big discussion.

it's hard - I follow the comments rule - if it is open comment that means you accept critique. And you approached it very kindly and politely. If it says comments discouraged I either love it or leave it.

Basic rule of thumb - if it is a deviation that seems powerful in emotion/about family/lost loves etc - I keep my comments to a minimum

Again - I thank you very much for being so pleasant you are rare !

Did I ever tell you that story about the time I woke up with a mouse on my head? I should....silly mice...

oibyrd In reply to lindowyn-stock [2006-12-06 08:03:05 +0000 UTC]

no but you gotta tell me now LOL! I had a spider incident like that when I was little - and my dad got the brilliant idea of taking his wife and two very spoiled citydweller girls camping....in one of those hand-crank soft top starcraft wanna-be trailers that are actually just tents in a snazzy shell .

I hope up the whole park when I woke up and it was sitting right beside my EYE. *shiver* the memory STILL creeps me out !

Mice are different LOL I kinda think they're cute

Ah, you see, I was about 16 years old, and I was laying in bed, dreaming about waterfalls. I remember thinking, yay! I like dreaming about waterfalls! I can actually feel the water hitting my head! Neat! But for some reason I woke up. And that weird head sensation didn't really go away. In fact, my hair was flying around in front of my face, like someone was grabbing me. Now, I lived in a haunted house, so my first instinct in that situation was "get up. run away" so I sat up really quick. And a little brown mouse with a white belly just fell offa my head and landed on the pillow and looked at me. We kinda stared at each other for a bit, and he seemed to be getting pretty comfy on my pillow, and we can't have that, so I kindof dumped little mousie onto the floor. He ran off.

Ten minutes later, I'm trying to get back to sleep, and trying to stop giggling about the damn mouse, when I hear a little scratching noise in the doorway. Guess who's back. So I snuck along the wall with my firefly catchin' jar, and actually caught the little thing. From here on, I wasn't thinking too clearly. The first thing I thought was to show mom. So I went upstairs and set the jar on her chest and poked her until her eyes opened....and she saw this little mouse jumping up and down in a jar, and freaked out...now I was worried that little mouse might get hurtified in this scuffle, so I took him and ran back downstairs, where he spent the rest of the night in my room.

Mice dont' like jars though. And he kept jumping around in it all night, hitting his head on the lid. It kindof sounded like a little bell. I let him go the next day. Outside. Mice are so weird.
