Description This was inspired by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' song Face Down. [link]

It's been formatted above, the original poem looked like this:

“No!” she screamed as the clock ran down.
The time of cruelty was about to be at hand.
“I’ll do better,” she whispered to the air.
“You will never be good enough,” he yelled.
Masculinity comes thin when he shoves her around
Coming close to the broken and bruised she was
As she lied on the ground she let herself cry
While he packed up this things and left
Noting more could be said of the true Romeo and Juliet
Where love doesn’t work out and life ends
Mother calls and says “get over it, he wasn’t worth it.”
Still she cries because she doesn’t know better
Abandoned by all she screams for release
She sobs for return, she screeches for peace
“I've finally had enough!”

Not intending to be a douchebag or anything, but this doesn't really resemble Romeo & Juliet. While an excellent peice, everyone seems to think of Romeo and Juliet as "The greatest starcrossed lovers of all time" I read the Shakespearean novel, and I cannot remember once within the story of him physically abusing and then leaving her...

The way I interpret Romeo and Juliet is as a tragedy, because in the end 6 people die because of their so called love. Because in the end “never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.” In more modern times, tragedy happens when there is abuse and death, such as in my poem.
