Pano Play
I've been messing around over the last couple of weeks trying to teach myself pano photography. Panorama photography has been a round for a long time and I guess we are all familiar with those images of mountains and valleys that stretch across the canvas, amazing vistas with 180 degree field of view. The idea for creating such shots is quite simple: you take your first shot then swing your camera around to the right, say, keeping a bit of the original still in the frame and keeping the camera level, take the second shot, and repeat for, say 5 or 6 shots. After the shots are developed you line them up using the overlaps and stitch them all together, nowadays with software, or originally using an enlarger that allowed for overlapping negatives, and hey presto you have your panorama. As it turns out, with modern software creating such a straightforward pano image is fairly simple, but the term "pano" now refers to a much wider (excuse the pun) idea of stitch

One of the great houses of England, Ann. Much of the famous "Pride and Prejudice" with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle was filmed here.

Many Thanks

Yep - one of our great houses, Linda. The famous TV series "Pride and Prejudice" was filmed in part here.

Many Thanks

Ooooh that's such a fun fact to know!  Were people allowed to stand about and watch as it was being filmed? !

Don't know, Linda, but I doubt it - no where very close. Some of the shots, like D'Arcy diving into the pool, were cut 'n paste. Colin Firth did walk up to the pool - the little lake in the photo - and strip off, but the plunge was filmed in a studio tank, then the film cut back to him coming out and meeting Elisabeth (Jennifer Ehle) on the bank - that was shot for real.

Oooh All interesting to know!

They do allow folks here to stand by and watch. But nothing I personally seen very exciting.  I was walking about once during a movie being filmed starring Mark Wahlberg (whom, at the time, I had a fierce crush on for years LOL )  But I never did get to see him.    And if I got in the movie at all it would have been an aerial shot. And thank goodness too for that, as I remember clearly that day I looked like crap and was pushing a shopping cart.   (I wasn't even aware the movie was being filmed until I asked a by stander what all the commotion was about. ^^ )

Lyme Hall, both exterior and interior, is regularly used for TV and film events, Linda. But as is the norm, there can be several locations used and the results spliced together. It is possible that there were onlookers for the P&P scenes, but they would have been kept well back, out of sight during filming. BTW, pushing a shopping cart is definitely not cool if you want to be in a film - even if you were looking stunning which I expect you were really!

Yes, I definitely would have had on my best that day if I'd known Mark was in town ^^   But yeah, boo for sure, to the shopping cart...and that he didn't see me. LOL

Those on the roof, Mayumi? Yes, not Stately Home would be without its sculptural allusions to the classical past.

Many Thanks.
