Description Some birds from a trip to Hare Hill National Trust property, Over Alderley, Cheshire.

This healthy looking robin was busy feeding and defending its territory, but as seen in the second photograph, it had lost its left eye, probably from being pecked by another bird.

Nice shot. Looks a little different than the robins in the US.

Robins look cute, but in reality they're little tough guys who live fast and tend to die young.

This is with the new lens, Doris, and the bird was not too far away. I'm pleased with the feather detail and the tonas - you can see the "black" pupil in his ye surrounded by thebrown iris.

Many Thanks

Yep - it is expensive and difficult to learn, but I'm going back to Africa for more wildlife in July and I hope it will be worth it.

Many Thanks

David

Yep - he's a toughie, Linda. Most male robins are - they fight for their territory and are quite willing to challenge other birds.

Many Thanks

I've never known that about robins! Β  And here, I always thought they were docile. (I guess, the association of them to Spring and it's tenderness)

Robbie Robin is quite an aggressive little bird and chases away most other interlopers on his territory. He is often thought of as "sweet" because he looks so cute and comes right up to you -"the sitting on the handle of the spade" image - but he is just checking you out!

hehe Well aint that a kick to know!Β  I've only ever saw them briefly, in spring, so never had much of an opportunity to observe their behavior. !

Robins are tough critters, Henry, and quite aggressive towards intruders. They feed on insects and worms and seeds, so he will be OK for food.

Many Thanks
