Description Sparrows for LindaMy very good friend Linda, LindArtz :iconlindartz: while admiring some of my recent bird images from my Tanzanian Safari asked about sparrows, as these are one of her favourite birds. I didn't photograph any in Tanzania, but I promised to snap any that I came across. Here is a very short selection of house sparrow (Passer domesticus) images taken at my cottage in Scotland, during very wet and windy weather. Light conditions were poor, resulting in high ISO settings with the introduction of some noise. All the images are of male sparrows, the females being far to canny to come out in foul weather. We in the UK think of sparrows as those small brown noisy birds that flit about our gardens, and we barely pay attention. However, close up photographs show them to be colourful with a grey cap, brown or chestnut coloured mantle (back) and black bib and chest. The males have white spots or streaks above their eyes, and some have white or very light wing flashes. They flock with other bird

You're correct, Linda, sparrows have very distinct plumage, but you need to get them when they stop!

Many Thanks
