Description In 2010, some talented TMNT fans over at TheTechnodrome.com Forums got together to create an artistc remix of the very first issue of the Mirage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic.  It was a lot of fun and plans were made to take the same approach to the second issue of the Mirage comic book series, which featured the first appearances of April O'Neil, Baxter Stockman, and the Mousers.  That second project ended up taking three and a half years to finish.

I contribued three pages, although I was especially happy with my idea for this one, as I think the sprites from the old Konami (aka, "Ultra Games") Nintendo video games meshed nicely with Eastman and Laird's original layouts.  I left all the word balloons blank because those were filled in later by the project's editors.  I had the hardest time finding the right sprite to use as a stand-in for the news reporters, as there are apparently very few 8-bit games that feature anything close to a reporter with a microphone looking into the camera.  I ended up settling on a 16-bit option--good ol' Ron Barr from EA Sports' NHL series on Sega Genesis.

Also, can you tell by my gallery uploads, that I really love the cityscape background from the NES Rampage game?

I think the full comic is still available for download at Mutant Ooze.org:

Throwback to the old school NES game.  Way cool.  Hardest game every!!!

Oh, it was hard but the gameplay remained consistent between levels (with the exception of the Dam level and the Turtle Van driving), thus meaning that if you master the controls and enemy behavior, you can get the upper hand over the game.  Battletoads, on the other hand, is a new trick with every level.  IMO, it's the hardest well-made game of the NES era.
