Description Sakura started blooming around Seattle in late March, and some varieties are still going strong. There's only so much I can take before it moves me to draw something.

This was easy breezy, experimental fun. Tho frustrating at the same time because 90% into the process I got the dreaded "unexpected end-of-file" error. XD d'oh. I had a setup file saved, so had to redo only half the image.

Time: 8 hours (but 3 of those were spent on trying to actually vectorize the image (no way, I'll stick to Photoshop), find my Wacom setup CD, and redo the image after the file got corrupted.)

I can say one thing with certainty: I've never combined those particular colors before. XD

This is a lovely experiment, Olga. I particularly like the flat design style with the tiny bit of gradient areas.

I've been dying to try my hand at vector stuff for years. But since I don't know Illustrator that well I had to fake it in Photoshop. ^__^ I like it too!

Thanks, Katherine!

Illustrator and I are also a bit at odds. You're welcome.

This is truly gorgeous. And our cherry blossom tree is just barely starting to flower...

Oh really? I wonder what variety it is. I remember how weird it was when the big trees in UW's square would finish blooming while the others around them were just getting started.

I'm just glad that means continuous blossom enjoyment for us! ^_^

(and thank you! )

BEAUTIFUL image, Olga - Love the way the color contrast pinpoints her head right away.
Best,
J.

Thank you James! It actually bothers me a little that the head stands out so much, but I really wanted to get across the understated look for her kimono. (because that's usually the part that gets most attention. ^_^)
