Description William as his princely self. This is a cold mask he puts on to not let people see his inner self.

Oh my goodness! Something about the blending in this piece is really stunning! So smooth.
I always wanted to know, do you marker color dry or wet? I was pretty sure wet for most of your work but I think your earlier stuff wasn't like that. I've been watching you for so long, I'd have to go back and check but I'm just curious.

*Me -> Does wet marker*

What do you mean by "wet"?

BurningArtist In reply to omegasama [2009-03-09 17:49:24 +0000 UTC]

Well, from what I understand there are really 2 big marker techniques. The first is Dry where you let your markers dry out a bit and then you use more of a watercolor style of painting where the colors become really transparent but have more defined marks. That sort of coloring is use a lot by technical designers and auto illustrators. This also lets you take more time in coloring since the marker color doesn't mix. (Most of my teachers colored that way)

The second is "wet" where you don't let your markers dry and mix the colors quickly so that they blend (either by using the same colors over lapping each other or a blender.) It has to be done quickly otherwise there will be undesired marks as you blend. Big pieces need to be done very quickly and normally you have to more or less plan in advance the sections you'll be coloring.

I've never done a wet coloring that's taken me more then 2 hours.

That's what I'm asking. =3

I guess I am using wet then? I just draw, I never really bothered to learn what the techniques are named

I was taught the difference in school. That's probably the only reason why I know. lol. I'm really bad at looking for these sorts of things myself so unless someone tells me about it, I'm generally late to learn about artsy things. lol

Okay, I was just curious. =3

We didn't use markers in school... I am fully self-taught when it comes to colouring with markers ^^ *is proud of self* We learned the good old stuff like watercolour and oil.

Did you go into fine arts? (I was doing illustration so I had a technical design class: architectural illustration, stuff like that that used markers. I didn't like that class at all but I liked the markers. lol)

Wow! It's funny cause people tell me that water color and markers have a lot of the same application principles... but I fail so bad at water colors yet I think I'm decent at Markers. I feel so much more scared of using watercolor. >_>

Anyways! thank you for answering. ^_^

I was in class in high school... Then I've only taken a few anatomy courses and such, but never a university class.

Well, your stuff is professional material so I say regardless, you bloomed beautifully left to your own devices.

(Oh my, such ego-stroking! Sorry, don't think I'm buttering you up for anything. lol I'm just stating my opinion. =3 )

I'm not very adventurous so taking classes like that is probably the only way I try anything new. I have change issues. >_>
