That is brilliant.
I love how the Prawn's going all out and the Avatars looking really p*ssed off, just barely holding himself together and taking it. Prawns are much better than the stupid "pretty" girlie cat-people...

Avatar = Pretty much Disney's Pocahontas told without the fun musical numbers, with a fuckload of uncanny valley, furries, and 3 hours of time wasted.

D9 is better in story and acting. The special effects could also be said to be better seeing that D9 didn't have the unlimited budget Cameron had.

In my eyes, D9 had better special effects than Avatar. After watching it again on DVD, I realized how much more lifelike the prawns looked than the giant smurfs. The prawns looked like real, live aliens, and the Na'vi just looked glossy and synthetic.

I saw avatar a few days ago-it was entertaining but the plot line was waaay too predictable >,< I was a bit disappointed 
I couldn't predict what was going to happen and it had a good message ^-^ not to mention it was gory at some parts. I also liked how they made the movie into a documentary-that was awesome.
But overall -both movies were good ^-^

Were they the same size, yeah I might see Prawn laughing at the Na'vi.
But seeing as how the Prawn would be maybe chest-height to a Na'vi at best, and how said Na'vi would likely take offense to mockery in a major way, I can't see it ending well for the bug.
As for judging the movies... eh, they're both awesome. D9 was a gory roller coaster that kept me guessing from start to finish. Avatar on the other hand was pretty predictable story-wise, but a story I enjoyed more than D9's, and it's visually succulent in a way most movies only dream of (and I saw it in 2D - in 3D as it was intended, it's probably mind-blowing).

well, I draw this long time ago...I didn't know na'vis were tall or even had tails...
I saw it 4 days ago in iMax and the 3D is mindblowing...I still find Prawns way cooler than Na'vis...Gay blue cat alike tall people with octopus in their hair...thats still retarded...

District 9 was far superior in the story department.
But Avatar was far superior in the stylistic department. The Na'vi were the weakest of the alien creatures, it's true. But the rest of the non-humanoid aliens were far cooler than another bug humanoid. The technology, including the bipedal mechs, were also more believable in Avatar.

I'm looking forward to see Avatar because it has been such a huge budget film, and it's supposed 'revolutionary'ness, but I've got no idea if I'll like it or not. Still going to see it. D9 was awesome as well, but in contrast, from the advertisements I saw beforehand, I thought I would hate it.
Overall, I'm just glad that the SF movies with a moral message are making a comeback against the SF purely special effects movies.
And on to the picture... I love this because yeah, I can definately see a Prawn laughing at how different the navi look.

I agree with Guyverman. I suppose you can have an opinion based on the commercial, but how can you truly have an opinion of the whole movie? If you just don't like what you see, that's fine, but don't judge it completely before its even out. Whose to say what the movie will truly be like.

I know a lot about this movie and I'm sure it will be crap. And even I didn't know much, humanoid prawns with awesome technology and lust for cat food are waaaaay better than blue cat alike looking tribals on a gay planet of flying rocks...Cameron is crazy, he screwed up big time with this...I'm sure kids are going to like it (girls mostly)...also, do you like Twilight? (I don't)
