An incredibly feisty Pokemon, Perrickly are known as the troublemakers of the woods. These Pokemon love to tease and play tricks on weaker and less capable Pokemon by scaring them, laying spike traps and even kidnapping them. Their best weapon is their club-shaped tail -- it can extend up to four times Perrickly's height to hit unsuspecting opponents with the spiky mace. Its "troublemaker" status has reached infamy in Ferona, to the point where a popular kid's TV show depicts it as being the villain. Perrickly get along extremely well with Perrserker.

- The name is a combination of Purr, Persian, Prickly, and Hickory.
- The grass type is based on cacti and the wait-a-while plant, which is an Australian acacia plant known to easily tear up clothes.
- Their appearance and behaviour is based on the Oni, a Japanese imp/demon/deity race that are commonly depicted in folk tales as causing trouble for the people. The most well known story is from Momotaro, where a group of heroes have to travel to an oni-ridden island to vanquish them.
- The bit about the kid's TV show is also based on the Team Rocket Meowth.
