"I will be leading a patrol to monitor our border facing towards the city. This is always a risky venture, but we can't afford to be lax. Our attitude towards the Hunters nay have changed, but they're still our enemies, and we can't expect them to stand by. The war hasn't ended. We have every right to expect that they'll come up with something new, and we need to be ready when that happens. Today, we'll show our neighbors that we mean business. I don't plan to lose any young cats today, which is why only a single apprentice will be coming on this patrol. No one will be taking any unnecessary risks. Stay sharp, and stay on task... better safe than sorry."

Andromeda rarely found herself leaving camp these days. Most times it was because Brutus or the training of her apprentice, Athena, demanded it, and it was always without her armor. It was cumbersome, and all it did was remind her of those terrible times that had shifted her life. Even now, regret and agony pulled at her gut and her heart. A piece of it was missing. Only Sator knew if it would ever be found.

The once bold leader stopped at the treeline, raising her head to see over the undergrowth in the direction of the city. Polaris. He was out there, somewhere. He had to be. He was clever like his mother, and strong like his father. Andromeda refused to believe that even as a cub he could have been defeated by the cruel monsters that had stolen him away. Every day the snow leopard prayed he would find his way home to them. Every day she cursed her wounded leg from hindering her from finding him. And what of her other children? Would they return? One day, she kept telling herself. One day...

Sohnii's tail tip lightly tapped her side, jarring her back to the forest. The rest of the patrol members had moved on. Sohnii was gazing at her with an empethtic expression. He understood, at least. Polaris, Garen, and Aries...three of her four children had gone, and she had not a clue where or if they were alright. Sohnii nodded slightly to her and padded away to catch up with the patrol. Andromeda cast another forelorn look at the darkening city, then slowly turned and followed.
