Description To explain:
Hideaki Anno--co-creator of Gainax and founder of the Evangelion franchise--will be directing the new movie Godzilla Resurgence.
It's doubly funny when you consider the Millennium MechaGodzilla (Kiryu) was partially inspired by the EVA units (cybernetics build upon a corpse and piloted).  (Also to note: Kiyru was inspired by Cyber-Zilla from the 1990s cartoon (Godzilla: The Series, based on the 1998 movie), who in turn was also inspired by Showa MechaGodzilla; funny how cyclic everything is).

A Death Battle between the franchise (and/or including AoT and Pacific Rim) would be nice.

Kiryu being inspired by Cyber-Zilla is not neccesarily true.

Speaking of that crossover:

Technically Cyber-Zilla from Godzilla:The Series was Inspired by MechaGodzilla from the early films. But It may have been a pre-cursor toward Kiryu though. When I been watching Godzilla against MechaGodzilla(2002), I could help but see some Evangelion influence in the film beside the obvious Kiryu's origin and behavior.

Such as Like : The main character Lt.Akane had a tragic past and lead a life of self destruction similar to Rei Ayanami and Shinji Ikari. When in one scene  the daughter make a suggestion to the dad this dismiss, then minutes later the military wanting the dad scientist to create Kiryu make the exact same suggestion like the "cut away"joke in Neon Genesis Evangelion episode 11 "The Day Tokyo-3 stood still". The scientist daughter used her plant as away to coup with her dead Mother similar to Shinji Ikari neglected by his father and losing his mother used his CD player to block out the trouble of the world around him Or Misato where here cross necklace from her dead father. The rival Pilot Susumu Hayama being an arch-type for Asuka Langley Souryu.  Even When the daughter scientist speech to stay alive towards Akane is similiar to Misato convincing Shinji Ikari to stay alive. the differences is while in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla the speech works, but in End Of Evangelion it doesn't.

Even Though We know Godzilla always been indestructible, In this Film Godzilla seem to take on like the role like the Angels from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Where the military artery don't faze him and nothing but Kiryu could stop him, like Evangelion how nothing the military could stop the Angels only Evangelion Units is capable of stopping it.

Not to mention When Kiryu go berserk like how Evangelion unit goes Berserk Mode.
