Description Holbien watercolour paints on Cotman's rough paper with ink pen lines. Summer is summed up by these guys (Cicadas or semi in japanese if you didn't know what it is) for me in Tokyo, Japan. Their sound is magic (worth checking out anime movies or youtube clips to hear it). Wing colour inspired by Pixie from the X-men.

But IΒ΄m actually surprised those animals live in Tokyo :3 DidnΒ΄t expect there to be that much nature ^^

Thank you The wings were really fun to do. Unfortunately, not much of the colour effects show up in this iphone photo Watercolours are difficult to take photos of, and I also hear they don't even scan that well. But I'm glad you like the structure, although I should really thank nature for that. I really just followed real wing form and vein placement. Insects have insanely awesome wings, and cicadas have evolved some of the best wings amongst the insects!

Ahh, the Cicada. We have a lot of them here where I live right now, and it can get really loud at night. I like this painting. You have a lovely color scheme here.Β

Thanks so much! In Tokyo the cicadas really only make sound sunrise to sunset. And a LOT of it. I love it so much. They are literally on every single tree in the summer.

Thanks so much. On reflection, I wish I had made the fake frame another 1cm or so inwards, but such is life. Mostly, I am happy with how it turned up The background was a big risk of large flowing colours lol.
