Mexican Black Kingsnake, and my favorite of the Egyptian deities, Anubis.Selective desaturation done in photoshop CS2.

Oh, your snake is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I think my favourite part, bizarrely, is that one rib bone jutting out... it takes away from the sleekness while making the snake as a whole more interesting to look at.
Mind if I borrow your idea of snake+Egyptian deity?

Very beautiful. I can't say what it is that attracts me so much to this, but it's seems so . . . powerful, yet simple. Very awesome.
My boyfriend just made a comment over my shoulder. Basically it went something like, "She photographs reptiles like you do horses. It's funny how when someone has an animal they know how to best represent them." I thought I should share!

I have a few horse photos in my gallery back there somewhere. I grew up with them and my mother trains/being trained/etc at a dressage school currently. Supposedly a few people there want to throw money at me to take photos of their horses so I may have some nice new photos in my gallery within a couple weeks. Supposedly they just imported a load of 15 new Fresians. *drool*

No, they are not venomous. Just a common species of Kingsnake.

I didn't know you had a MBK. These are my favorite snake, and this is a great shot. The selective desaturation works really well for this.
