!the recycled theme at this point, for me, is an uncomfortable one. I like the idea of using pre-existing images to create an altogether different image, but these images are "old friends" & I feel too often that I'm repeating myself. I also sometimes feel that repetition is fine, a bit like spiraling in toward some truth or other, & each related image is a landmark on the way. And sometimes I just think pfffttt, fuck it, each image is what it is, an image, & for god's (& your own) sake, stop overthinking things.

I like this style a lot, but I end up angsting over the idea that I'm getting repetitious. I tend to over-think things, sometimes. It occurs to me to just roll with the style- variations on a theme...

I think that if I worry about my work being "formulaic", it's because I have pretty specific fall back imagery...I feel like I'm constantly working on variations of a theme.
I did read somewhere that an artists works are the attempts by the artist to make that one piece...
