Description This starship is called the U.S.S. Sea Duck, and it is named and painted as a homage to The Sea Duck, the airplane that appeared in Disney's TV series "TaleSpin".

And, I didn't just make this ship, because I love The Sea Duck. Oh, no. This ship does actually exist, in my Star Trek AU, in the 24th century.

In my AU, the U.S.S. Sea Duck was an NX-class vessel, that had been at drift in space for many years, until a Ferengi cruiser found it, and the Ferengi crew decided to try to sell it. It was bought by a human freelance deliveryman, named Robert "Bob" Quest. He and his crew needed a new ship, since they're last one got blown up by Orion pirates, so, they bought this NX-class vessel from the Ferengis. The ship still needed some fixing up, so Bob Quest and his crew put their last profits into getting this ship in working order, which included fixing a few dents in the hull, replacing the warp core with a more modern one, as well as some new warp nacelles. Not to mention installing some new helms controls and a more modern transporter. And, as a final touch, Bob had the ship repainted, in this sandy gold color, which was his own favourite color. The ship also got equipped with modern phaser arrays and more modern, and more accurate, torpedo launchers, as well as new deflector shields, for extra defense.

All of these modifications cost Bob and his crew a lot of money, so they started to take as many delivery jobs as they could get. Even some that weren't totally within the law. Sadly, this brought Bob and his crew the attention of the SFPD "Starfleet Police Department", who not only had been keeping an eye on Bob and his crew, but had also done some digging, and found out that this NX-class starship, which Bob had named "The Sea Duck", was still registered in Starfleet's records, under its original name, the NX-24 Solaris. Which makes Bob's possession of it illegal. The SFPD arrested Bob and his crew, and towed The Sea Duck back to Earth, where Starfleet high command would decide on what to do with it, as well as Bob and his crew.

Bob and his crew did manage to break out of prison, and stole back The Sea Duck, and went into warp, to escape from Federation Space. But, suddenly, they got an S.O.S on Starfleet's communication frequency, from the U.S.S. Titan, commanded by Captain William T. Riker, which was being attacked by Orion pirates, and requested assistance. Bob, who deep down was a good hearted man, couldn't let the Titan suffer the same fate as his last ship. So, they turned around, and assisted the Titan in driving away the Orion pirates. And the odds got even better, once the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, commanded by Captain Jean-Luc Picard, arrived to lend a hand, as well. The Orion pirates were driven out of Federation Space, and the Titan only took some smaller damages, easy to repair. But, the Enterprise-D was now instructed to take Bob and his crew back to Earth, where they would face a legal trial.

After hearing Bob and his crew's side of the story, in court, Starfleet High Command decided, based on them coming back to assist the Titan, as well as willing following the Enterprise-D back to Earth to face justice, to drop the charges of theft and breaking out of prison… But only on one condition. That Bob Quest and his crew would hand over The Sea Duck to Starfleet, and fly it, as one of Starfleet's special delivery crews, since their way with Orion pirates might prove useful in defending the Federation, now that the Orion pirates have started to become more aggressive again. Bob, more willing to go with Starfleet High Command's proposal, rather than end up in prison, accepted the terms. And so, their ship became officially christened the U.S.S. Sea Duck, with the registration number NCC-1940, and Bob Quest and his crew, now wearing Starfleet uniforms, continued to make an honest living, as a space delivery crew. And, they are doing the best they can to keep within the law, as to not get in too much trouble with Starfleet.

The U.S.S. Sea Duck is not only modified with more modern weapons and technology, but thanks to its more modern warp core and warp nacelles, it is capable of reaching a maximum top warp speed of warp factor 8.28, which makes it the fastest Nx-class vessel ever. And Bob also installed a very special extra helms system, which makes it possible for only one crewman to fly the ship, if need be.

Credit for the parts goes to captshade and nichodo . The warp nacelles are my own scaled down version of a slightly bigger version. But I don't remember who made the original. But, who ever made them should know, that I'm still giving credit to you, for the original nacelles.

(I don't own the "Star Trek" franchise. CBS and Paramount does. I'm just a fan.)

(I don't own The Sea Duck or "TaleSpin". Disney does. I'm just a fan.)

(Don't steal this. Please ask before using this, or any of my other starships. Thanks in advance for your understanding.)
