My prayers and hopes are with the Philippines' steadfast people. This photograph is very moving not only because of the destructive force portrayed but because of the way it was shot. The noisy quality of the image just emphasizes the urgency of the matter as well as the danger and suffering the people in the background are facing. The main subject also shows the horrible reality of what has happened.

This image, tragedy incarnate, is a depressing sight but the way you shot it also brings a sense of hope because despite the gray haze that shrouds the whole picture, there is a warm light not far off the horizon. Hope and strength. Uplifting symbolism.

A simple shot in a tragic point in time that makes people who see it tremble in both fear and compassion. You, sir, I applaud for shooting and posting this.

The unnerving title did not hurt either.
