this on turned out looking pretty nice, if i do say so myself.fun fact, i was originally going to make it night in this picture,
but while i was doing the outlining, i noticed that most pictures of luna are set at night time, so i decided to make it sunset, because you don't see luna during sunset that often.

if Luna sleeps as much as a person does then that is still just 8 out of 24 hours. like from 10:00 to 18:00. that still leaves plenty of time when Luna is awake with the sun up.
I like the drawing, it really symbolizes Luna I think. The calm and comforting darkness. Luna makes the night feel peaceful and safe instead of scary.

Princess Luna stood upon the balcony of her chambers as she prepared to raise the moon. Yet as she looked out upon the horizon of the setting sun, she saw not the beauty of dusk, but the darkness in her past. The site she observed only reminded her of how she hated her sister, and how ponies would only see Celestia's sunshine, but not what came after it. The sadness she felt her heart was felt everyday, yet grew with the glow of every twilight. A tear ran down her cheek as she rose to do her royal duty, but something halted her. Not something of divine greatness or great evil, but instead a single insect. A luna moth. She had heard about them, but had never seen one. The towns people would talk about them and how lovely they were. It puzzled her how such a small creature could be so admired, so adored. And then it clicked in her mind. It was beauty. It was a rare and beloved beauty that shunned the day yet danced in the midnight sun, and it was treasured by all. Luna realized that her night was a sacred treasure, and no one was worthy of it but her. Another tear ran down her cheek. This time, not in sadness and anger, but in joy and hope. The princess began to raise the moon, and the moth disappeared into the dimming horizon to become a sacred relic once more. Β

The luna moth...perhaps one of, if not THE most beautiful insect in the world. The sight of one just seems to instill a sense of peace in the soul, that overwhelming natural beauty that can calm even the most troubled of hearts. I know that's how it works with me

This is a pretty picture, but I don't know if I like the way you used the dodge/burn toolΒ for the shadows. They look kind of flat and messy. The dodge/burn tool is a very poor tool for highlights and shading, and it makes pictures look flat. Try using light and dark colours of different hues instead, and work on the lighting. Anyway, I do like MLP: FiM, and I like the picture, but the shading and lighting could use some work.

actually i used only use the brush tool for for the shading, and i used light and dark colours and hues.

Cool. The colours still look a bit too dark in some places, and the colouring in Luna's shaded hair is kind of messy.
