of all the skins i have ever created for CAD so far, this is in fact one of the few i'm using quite often and frequently myself.
well, not to blow my own horn, but i agree that this skin is indeed quite aesthetic and functional.

anyways.. it's great that you like this skin this much.
thanks for your kindness and your fav, Bruno.

Hey, no problem in thinking your own work is that good when it actually is XD Anyway, Do you plan on making more work like this? Is it possible to reduce the opacity of it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

OtisBee In reply to ShiroiKumo [2010-07-08 20:09:19 +0000 UTC]

more work like this? you mean like minimalistic skins that have just a black partially transparent background? well, i'm sure i will be creating many more skins for CAD, although i don't know (yet) where the journey will take me.
regarding this skin's opacity.. you could try and reduce the opacity by using the SkinEditor. just rightclick CAD and select SkinEditor from the context menu and once the SkinEditor would show up simply click the "edit" tab. then on the left side you'll see some icons and i think it's the 2nd or 3rd one that will take you to the "case & cover appearance" settings. in there you will then see a box where you can decrease the skin's opacity. i hope that was helpful.

ShiroiKumo In reply to OtisBee [2010-07-12 03:32:12 +0000 UTC]

I'll be looking forward to the other skins. I got the opacity thing, Thanks. The only problem is that the cover image is affected by the opacity as well D:

Also, I did some changes: I put the cover in the middle and the Artist and song Title on the far left. This way it works better for me since I have it played in the middle of the screen. I also included track number and both "remaining" and "elapsed" time on the right. I took the bitrates out because It is not important. Just hope I give you some Ideas

OtisBee In reply to ShiroiKumo [2010-07-12 06:32:59 +0000 UTC]

yeah, nice ideas there, although i think that i leave this skin as it is.
but that's what the SkinEditor is for: to let you edit a skin to your liking.
it's nice to see that you're making use of it.

ShiroiKumo In reply to OtisBee [2010-07-13 01:28:41 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I'm having some problems with it. I removed the "overlay" image (nothing personal LOL), checked the "maintain aspect ratio", and increased the cover size a bit. It was working fine but since yesterday the "aspect ratio" just isn't working. It is still checked but everytime a new song is played it goes back to not being aspect ratio. It works if I reload but then again it happens when a new song is played. Could it be because of a new foobar skin I'm trying?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

OtisBee In reply to ShiroiKumo [2010-07-13 08:14:47 +0000 UTC]

nah, i don't think that it has anything to do with that foobar skin. more likely it seems to be an internal issue (if any) with CAD. but just so i got you right.. activating the aspect ratio means that rectangle shaped covers (like back covers for example) stay rectangled, whereas de-activating it means that a cover will always be stretched to the cover area size you've set in the SkinEditor. for instance, if you've set a cover area of let's say 80x80, then a cover that is less high than wide will be stretched to fill up the entire area of 80x80, if you don't use the aspect ratio.

i don't know, but if it looks okay after reloading the skin and then looks odd as soon as a new song starts playing, i can't help but thinking of a possible bug in CAD. would you mind reporting that issue to the cdartdisplay.com forum? [link] i'm sure it can be fixed, but you need to contact the developer about it (+maybe a screenshot showing the issue), because i can't do anything about it from here.

just in case you don't want to register to the forum.. i can forward this for you, but only if really necessary and i do need a screenshot showing your issue then.

ShiroiKumo In reply to OtisBee [2010-07-15 02:45:12 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I had just joined the CAD forum and then I saw you there. Now I know why you make so many and such great skins XDD. I'm not worthy!! I posted on the screenshot thread.

Anyway, about the issue. I almost have it figured it. It have something to do with me messing around with the width and length of the cover. I just had to set a "default" resolution very similar to most cover's original aspect ratio. Anyway, it is not a problem anymore XD

I'm looking forward to posting a lot on the CAD forums so see you there!

hmm, although not listed in the preview image, there's a 1360 version included already.
i know this isn't really 1366, but maybe you can try the 1360 and see if it's okay.

anyways ... thanks for your fav and feedback.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

OtisBee In reply to emokillss [2010-02-19 08:12:30 +0000 UTC]

well, it seems like you haven't installed the fonts required by this skin, yet.
please close cad and check if there's any font file (*.ttf) in this skin's "Fonts" folder and then copy/paste that to your system fonts' directory.
when you're done you can launch CAD again and the skin should work as expected.

in case there aren't any font files in this skin's "Fonts" folder, then please download the skin again and then after you have unzipped the zip file you'd have to rename the included Subject Matter.cskin file into Subject Matter.zip.
next you can extract that newly created zip archive in WinRar or WinZip or whatever and you'll find that "Fonts" folder.
just copy/paste the ttf file(s) as described above, launch CAD again and that's it.

i hope that was helpful.

what windows are you using?
if you're on Vista or Win7 then taking folder ownership of both CAD and WMP might help.
also taking a look here could be useful.

either way, .. you're always welcome to post a help request in the cdartdisplay.com forum.

Would you be willing to allow me to adapt this to work with covergloobus and screenlet on linux?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

OtisBee In reply to d0od [2009-10-14 10:23:28 +0000 UTC]

thanks for your inquiry.
i appreciate this a lot.

i think you're not just asking me to adapt this but also to actually release it, right?
well well well, ..........
...i'm usually not too keen about my works to become available for other apps and/or platforms.
the thing is that i can't control their spreading once they're out of hand.
so, what can you do to help avoiding an uncontrolled usage?
maybe you can add as many credits wherever possible.
like for example: in your release notes, in the preview image, in a readme.txt file etc. each of them saying that i gave an explicit resp. exclusive permission to only you for te purpose of making this a covergloobus skin.
besides i would appreciate links to both my dA gallery and the original deviation in the areas i just mentioned.
maybe you can even rename the skin from Subject Matter to Subject Matter by OtisBee.

you think that would be okay for you?
i hope you don't mind me being sooooo picky there.

cheers.
