I absolutely love the perspective on this, The Omega Class was my favourite ship from B5 with its Predecessor the Nova Class being a close runner up and this image of one coming out of a Jump is a simply wonderful image.
I have to ask is there a higher resolution image available?, I would love to be able to use this as a desktop wallpaper.

Great perspective. Amazing work, a fitting tribute for best sci-fi series of the lot.

It's not a drawing as such. There are some digitally painted elements, but it's a combination of 3D render, matte painting and other digital effects. The software I used was Lightwave, After Effects and Photoshop.

The ships, the jump gate, the vortex, and the main starfield are 3D rendered. The nebula is a matte painting, the optical flares and some of the lights are After Effects, and the remaining elements and some lighting adjustments were done in Photoshop.

is there a website that could show this way of working? or youtube video etc.

You can find tutorial videos on how to do various thing with programs on YouTube, but you'd need to look it up specifically for the programs you want to use. A generic 'how to' video would never work, since the procedure is different from software to software. It also depends on the artist how they work. If you have a specific software you want to learn, and a specific subject, then simple search for that on YouTube, e.g. "space nebula painting tutorial photoshop"; something like that.

Thanks. Someone had pointed out to me that I hadn't done anything Babylon 5 until that point; couldn't let that slip by! That was one of the great sci-fi shows of the 90s. In fact, the 90s were altogether great for science-fiction.

Well, that's not a bad thing, right? I believe that was the original design premise behind this class of ship, to invoke fear whenever it showed up, so I'm glad I could convey that... Here's some real background on the design . In reality it was built in one of the first versions of the render software that I still use today; 22 years later.
As far as the Bablyon 5 backstory is concerned, I don't know if a Russian was involved in building it. It's an Earth Alliance/Earthforce (similar to Airforce) vessel, and in Babylon 5 the Earth Alliance was originally comprised of the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Japan, New Zealand, and South Africa, with the main governmental seat in Switzerland if I remember correctly; it was a replacement of the United Nations in the aftermath of World War III. Later on it was an alliance comprising of a number of different races not unlike Star Trek's United Federation of Planets. The backstory to Babylon 5 is not as extensive as Star Trek's by far though, but. . . . who knows. If a former Nazi such as Werner von Braun can work for the U.S. Government on one of the greatest achievements in space flight to date (aka the Saturn V rocket), then I don't see why a Russian couldn't be involved in the Omega-class Destroyer. . .?

Awesome work. I love the lighting from the gate and jump point. You also did a great job showing the scale of the ship compared to the starfuries.

Thank you very much!
And yes, I didn't want to do one of the usual Starfury close-ups with an Omega in the background as you so often see. In space it's all about lighting and scale in my opinion. Might not be 100% accurate, because a Starfury is roughly 10 meters in length while an Omega-class destroyer is around 1700 meters, but hey, close enough given the perspective, and if I made the Starfurys any smaller you'd have trouble seeing what they are.
As far as the lighting goes, I did go a little nuts, but if they remade Babylon 5 today, I'm sure it would be close to that.

That just an ass move that just makes it less likely for people to want to post their great creations for all. But if we can only get the small stuff then so be it. It it WAY better then nothing that is for sure.

Stargate??? It's a great show but isn't there 10 or 11 seasons? That's a pretty big time commitment! I missed the much of the new Battlestar first time around so that's next on my list.
