The last thing Gilda expected was to see the same two ponies show up in Griffonstone, right at her doorstep, yapping about some friendship mission bullshit. The pink one was annoyingly friendly towards her and Rainbow Dash gave her a total cold shoulder, acting like they hadn’t once been best friends. So Gilda returned that attitude, telling both of them to screw off and leave her and the rest of her city out of their pony missionary work.

Pinkie was undeterred by that, even Gilda will admit she does have a way with baking...although the reason Gilda didn’t include baking powder was because it’s an uncommon ingredient in Griffonstone, the original scones she made might have been tough for ponies to each because they were made out of ground millet, something birds/griffons have no issue eating. Even Rainbow Dash probably would have been fine with the original scones because pegasi have some bird-like anatomy.

Rainbow Dash went on her way, trying to complete the friendship mission by saving some old artifact and succeeding in almost getting herself killing. While Pinkie and Rainbow didn’t appreciate the risk the Abysmal Abyss posed, Gilda certainly did, as any other griffon would, it’s something that was drilled into them as children as many a young and daring griffon had met their end in the Abyss, often the result of an ill-fated dare. Hell, it’s called the ABYSMAL Abyss, but there’s no telling ponies where not to go as Gilda would later recount.

Something about having your lifelong crush and the pony you’ve been secretly in love with for years almost die right in front of you will have even the most emotionally stunted griffon confessing their love, even with the pink friend horse right there obviously listening. And the rest is history….
