I don't think I use "crumbs" nearly enough. Oh, it's not a substitute for a swearword. I have no qualms there. I think swearwords can be quite beautiful if used properly. "Crumbs" has a certain flavor I like. Like somehow the cosmos isn't quite together the way it should be, like its lost its saturation and now is crumbling away to nothing. Something like that. E. E. Cummings refers to his own psyche as broken into crumbs. So I like "crumbs".

The first time I think I ever saw crumbs as an invective was on "Danger Mouse," his little hamster buddy would say. It literally forgot about it for decades until I watched the movie "The World's End" when Rosamund Pike's character said it quite often. It's a good word and I heartily approve is the point I'm making.
