Description
"Carl Zeiss" F2,8 50mm Tessar lens made in the "DDR", at the beginning of the sixties.
This is an East German copy of the famous Carl Zeiss Tessar that was designed in 1902, it has 4 lens elements from which the last 2 are glued together, looked liked a cooke triplet. its was famous for its sharpnes and contrast, and called the "Eagles eye". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tessar
This copy is from East Germany, then called the Deutsche Democratic Republiek (D.D.R), and lacks some of the orginal build and optical quality that once was in pre-war germany. At F2,8 it is a little soft and has a glow around the edges
, at F4 its Ok and at F5,6 it is Good, but no stellar performer. vintage-camera-lenses.com/carl…
Still I like its rendering , I bought this one at the Thrift shop for 3,50 Euro. (adapter EXA / FX= 26,- euro)
This one was build for the Kine Exakta SLR that came on the market in 1936 which was the first SLR for 35mm film. (Kine=Kino which means Cinema), which uses film perforated on both sides and was in use then for films in cinema at that time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kine_Exa…
This one is fitted with a double Exakta bayonet, that was in use from 1936 till 1948 on this type of camera.
Yesterday i found my Exakta to Fuji FX adapter again see photo (Zebra design of the sixties), which was mounted on an Hugo Meyer F2,8 100mm Orestor for exakta bayonet fitting which had also the zebra design. www.deviantart.com/pagan-live-…
