Description
That is the name I gave this cute itty bitty baby painted turtle!
I was originally going to name him/her (way too young to tell) Sheldon (from the Big Bang Theory) but I kind of like the uniqueness and ring to Ba-Zinga better.

He's very cute. I haven't had any turtles for quite a while. But I just picked up a small snapper (6") off the road today. He was sitting right on the white line and a smaller one was mashed a few inches away from him. He's sitting in a bucket in my bathtub right now. Tomorrow I'll relocate him to a spot further from the main drag he was on.

I've been doing turtle patrol for years. This time of year they start coming out and most of the people around here seem to go out of their way to run them over. I'm always screeching to a halt to run out and get them off the road. Thank God the traffic is usually thin, so it's not too hard to do. But if I can't pull over I will slow down and then stop, hold up traffic while I get them if I have to. No one has given me a hard time about it yet, but I swear I'm prepared to do battle if I have to. I hate it when people run over animals out of ignorance and meanness.

Yeah that really is disgusting when people go out of their way to hit something. If an animal jumps out in front of your vehicle and you don't have time to get out of it's way or it's too close to safely stop, without killing yourself, that's one thing. But I have seen people being cruel in purposely hitting small animals, like turtles, birds, squirrels, etc. Shame on them! Some people can be so cruel and heartless. :/

I have yelled out some not so nice words at heartless jerks like that! And actually depending on the animal, if someone is caught teasing or harming it on purpose they can do jail time! Especially if that animal is an endangered or threatened species. That includes different species of snakes, turtles, birds...the biggest offense going to someone that harms a Bald Eagle. It's considered a Federal Offense and I believe it's a mandatory 35 yrs in prison!

I'm with you on that! There was a vid I saw on YouTube of a rattlesnake that was in the road and this car (with a man, woman and their small child) was video taping it. Every time a vehicle came by and hit it (it was still alive and stayed a live for some time) they laughed and poked fun at the snake! :angry: I couldn't bring myself to watch it all the way through so I don't know what happened in the end. But the little bit I did watch I wanted to reach through the screen and beat them upside their ignorant heads! Not only for their heartlessness but what kind of role models are they for the child? Thinking it's ok, and even funny, to see any animal suffer...there is something seriously messed up with that.

I hear that. Nothing more ignorant than teaching your kids it's ok to torture an animal. What will they grow up to be if they think that's OK? Sad that there are still people who are so mean and ignorant.

Turtles do make cute and entertaining pets to keep. Water turtles can require a bit of work, b/c they need to have a large amount of water so that can fowl up quickly. But other then that they are great to own.
