Description Ba-Zinga, my male Eastern Painted Turtle. I got this photo of him last summer when the big oak tree in front of my house was cut down. Some drunk fool had hit the tree in the middle of the night taking a big chunk out of it and them swerved and hit my Dodge Durango head on! :/ He then took off. But the police found him a few houses down. He's lucky he didn't kill anyone or hit my house. If that oak wasn't there he would have! :/ Idiot.
Anyway I decided to put Ba-Zinga on the stump and get a few photos. This is one of the nicer ones that came out of that photo session. Oh and YES this is his real color. I have run into problems in the past of people thinking I actually painted him this color but not I didn't. His species is called Painted for a reason...b/c they look like someone painted them b/c they are so beautiful.

Cool Story! Me and my family found a painted turtle on the side of the road and we named him Mr. Bumble Butt.
Sadly, we weren't allowed to keep him...Oh well.

Both of those species can make great pets. Though they can be a lot of work too. B/c they are a water loving species you have to be prepared to provide a large enough tank/enclosure for them that has a large enough area for water for them to swim around in. They may not need much as babies but as adults, and they do get fairly big, they need a lot of space. But if you can provide that for them then I am all for keeping them.

Mmm.. Do they need similar care as for RES Turtles..?

Yes exactly the same care. Which is nice if you all ready know how to care for a RES but can also be a burden to some b/c they require a mostly water environment.

Wow, it looks like Be-Zinga has really grown a lot from his baby photo with those yellow flowers! He's a beautiful boy and I think this photo is good enough to be framed-or to be put into his baby album.

Oh yeah he's definitely grown considerably! He's about as big as my palm now. Glad you like this photo of him too. I do like how the light and shadows make his color really stand out.

Awe thank you. Ba-Zinga is truly a handsome turtle. He's so funny to in some of the things he does. I first found out he was a male when I saw him waving his nails in the face of this gargoyle decoration I have in his tank. Silly guy flirting with a statue.

Stunning turtle! I love finding little painted turtles and taking care of them for a little bit...once I found one about 6" across that had a leach on it...got the leach off and fed the painted turtle dandelions and worms until s/he moved back into our pond.

Excellent shot, and the darkness of the stump really brings out his colors!
