Description I quiver,
as I fold myself over in old wounds,
I hold a breath,
fearing a light that should be reached for,
Another sigh.
Can I get up from these old bandages?

How did I miss this one?
I have my own bloodied bandages that I have to reuse at times...

Thank you for exposing your vulnerabilities in this way to create your stunning artwork.

I know some people have to do it (myself at times) so yeah... I completely understand.

I fear these old wounds will tear open reaching for the candlelight
May they be gently unwrapped, checked, and with new ones hugged right
To let there be healing before scurrying on into the night...

Thank you thank you..Β
Many people conclude to healing.. but I don't think they're ready just yet..Β
You're so kind and gentle with that patience of yours..Β
I wonder if it is surviving out there alone, that makes you become more sensitive in this manner..

Everything will heal. Sometimes it'll take loooongΒ times, but it'll be worth it.

Different face anatomy than you usually draw. This seems to err more on the realistic side of things. I like the composition though, leads the eye across the strewn tools and bandages. Great work!

Thank you..!
Do you prefer the lesser realistic look?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cerecin In reply to paintausea [2018-06-14 17:06:04 +0000 UTC]

Not in particular. I like both stylings, the more realistic style just gives this one a certain gravity towards it.

paintausea In reply to Cerecin [2018-06-18 12:01:48 +0000 UTC]

What kind of gravity if I may ask?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cerecin In reply to paintausea [2018-06-18 21:41:55 +0000 UTC]

While your more cartoonish pieces have this contrast between the cute character and the serious subject; this one doesn't offer that contrast. It makes it seem less jarring but the piece hits heavier for it. Their is no saving grace here of "Oh, the character is cute though"; this is just very openly raw.

I'm bad at explaining but that's kinda what I mean by gravity.

You explained that perfectly fine (:
Which do you prefer personally?

Cerecin In reply to paintausea [2018-07-27 22:12:01 +0000 UTC]

I actually rather like the more realistic pieces. The cutesy stuff is fantastic, but there is just something so deeply 'there' about the realistic ones. I just can't get enough of it!

Thank you so much for letting me know.. (:
The anime-esque style of some of the characters has always stuck with me ever since I drew, but I do wish I could be a bit more realistic about it.. which is pressuring me to get better, but I only can do what I can at the moment..Β

Cerecin In reply to paintausea [2018-08-18 03:55:46 +0000 UTC]

Well, just give it time! Anime-eque style art isn't bad. a lot of your work is so notable and unique because of it. But you have real talent! And the realistic stuff just shows how skillful you actually are! I'm sure in time, and if you work at it, you'll get as good as you want to be!

Thank you so much for the reassuring words.. (:
At the moment I'm experiencing such a heavy art block.. There's no creativity flowing as it used to..
Nothing seems to come to me and it feels so empty..Β

Cerecin In reply to paintausea [2018-08-20 01:06:03 +0000 UTC]

I don't know how much it'll help, but when I get art block; I like to think of short phrases and write them down and see where the idea grows to. Start from the title and see what some phrases mean to you.

But that's just my method. I don't know how well it'll work out. XP

Just the same.. no sight. But, no pain.
Although, things tend to move in the dark. Little glimpses of little gnawing things.
Or maybe that's just what I 'see'.

Aah! I wish I had Omen's insight, because I can't think of a more perfect description.Β

Then again, I am an outsider to this sort of pain. Perhaps I don't have the proper perspective for such things to be as obvious to me.

That said, I love this piece, much like your others. It settles in that deep place in my heart that not many artists can access.Β

I know this is a long process, one you have been going through for years, but I too hope you may one day shed the old skin that has been trapping you for so long. All of us will help to ease you out of it.Β

Thank you, Mama Bear..
There are times when i very much would love to be an outsider of this pain as well..
Then again, it's made me who I am today..
With who I am not sure how to treat as, even if people tell me to do it in a loving manner..
Thank you for the support, always..

Vladimir32 In reply to paintausea [2018-06-14 23:11:54 +0000 UTC]

Mrrr, I think it's helpful to think of it as... it's not that the pain made you kind; you were always kind, but what you went through made you afraid to be anything else.

Indeed, who you are today, your art, and the subjects you bring to light are influenced by your past. I'm not denying that. It gave you a certain insight into things that many people do not understand. But at the same time, it's not like you should have to give any thanks to the people who hurt you. You are kind no matter what. *snugs*

(Also, loving manner? I'm sorry, but I can't quite tell what you mean in that sentence. )

Just that you said it in a loving way.Β
I'm sure not only mommies can be loving..

I'd rather see it in a thanking way than in a hateful..
but I'm not sure how far that really goes..
Just yesterday and the other day, I woke up screaming because my throat was being slashed in those every day nightmares, while my privacy was being invaded..

And ah, I see. Yes, I am inclined to agree. Many people can indeed be loving. (You are one of them! ^w^)

Ugh, that sounds horrible. u.u *curls up around you and bats at the hateful hands with my claws* Leave my bunny alone!Β

(Perhaps that's silly, but it's my instinct.)

Snakes and Spider shed their old skins to become more vibrant and colourful. It's a very lengthy process that looks like a lot of effort... shedding old bandages strikes me as something similar.Β
