It seems less gross and more like the figure is sinking in this tar. Not gross, but very much unfortunate.

I am familiar with this feeling... particularly when my anxieties get particularly terrible... when my one wish would be to just melt into a puddle and hide away from my life and not have to face everything that wraps and tangles around my chest like barbed wire... I swear that at times like this, I can feel my insides clenching and grinding and dissolving against each other.
Enough about me, though.
I love how you captured the look of melting and of sticky, tarry, oiliness so well. There's a certain waxiness to her as well in the way she is melting. All the bubbles just look so.. thick and tangible, like I could reach out and pop one from right here. I'm not sure if I can explain exactly why, but I love the little details of the holes/bubbles in her body, as if the dissolution is spreading and eating its way out from inside...
