Alanna, Princess Libertira's personal guard and a Knight of the Knight Guard in Tempur, enters the scene~
I added my sketch of Libertira behind her too just so everyone can see the height difference between them~

Alanna used to be a homeless child, who joined the Knight Guard in Tempur when they mistook her for a boy, and were then assigned as Libertira's personal guard. She's skilled with a sword and shield, and also know how to shoot with a bow and fight with a light axe or mace. She's confident and focused, but enjoys a good laughter and tries to be positive. She admires Libertira for her strong leadership, and because she possesses much calmness and tenderness towards other people, and much care for people in need. As well as a strong mind and soul, willing to stand up for herself. Alanna can relate to her, and so she has sworn her sword and life to her, for all eternity.

Libertira looked carefully on her friend and guard. Alanna's eyes were full of confidence, and her stance and walking were firm and strong. She looked nothing like a lady, a lady that Libertira were used to that is. And that was what she liked about Alanna, she were different. She stood her ground, and were brutally honest and straightforward, something Libertira deeply admired and wanted to strive for herself.
"Say... Alanna... I hope you do not take offense to this question of mine, but how was life before you joined the Knight Guard in Tempur?" Libertira asked.
Despite having known Alanna for a long time. Alanna rarely talked about her past, and Libertira had no wish to intrude, but now she felt like it was time to ask her childhood friend.
"Life before the Knight Guard? Well my princess, it wasn't easy, I can tell you that much. But I was better off than some others that I knew. Many of the older kids would seek adult jobs early, but if you were too young, then you could only sit on the sidewalk and hope for people to take pity on you... or you could start stealing for your survival. I had to do neither thankfully, I had an older brother who got a job on one of the bigger farms, and he supported me and my mum for a while. But when she died... he lost his job and moved to Kiara instead. I haven't seen him since. But at that time I started hanging out with a bigger group of boys a little older than me. You see, I had this knack for knocking down boys my age, and they thought it could be useful, since many of the boys said they could never fight a girl, which meant I got the first strike~ Anyways, it was tough, but it was a time I wouldn't trade for anything, I learned how to survive and how to fight. Which in the end led me to this point, the Knight Guard, they came to look for young men to join them, and they mistook me for a boy and took me in. And when they discovered the real me, they couldn't just throw me out, I had become too skilled with the sword. It would've been a waste of skills, as my Captain put it."
Libertira looked with big eyes on Alanna, she had not known that she had been a stray, a homeless child.
"I am so sorry to hear that you have had such trouble in your past Alan..."
"No. No need to be my lady, pardon me for interrupting you, but thanks to all of that, I'm here now with you walking in this beautiful garden, and I am very grateful for that opportunity that my life has given me."
Alanna smiled, and kept walking with big steps and reached for two apples, one she kept and the other she threw to Libertira, who barely caught it. They both smiled and kept on walking the dirt road leading back to the castle. All while Libertira thought to herself that she was very grateful too for that opportunity, although it was not something she would've admitted or said out loud. Since saying that she was grateful that her friend had to eat rats and sleep in the dirt in her childhood wouldn't have sounded very kind.
