A paperweight made for a friend’s graduation. I wanted to make a green paperweight and the Teaching Assistant suggested using these colors. I had a rough time with the process because it had been a while since I made a paperweight. Despite the difficulties I had, I like the end result. I love how the dark green wraps around the lighter green.The TA said he thought it looked cool, but when the glass is hot, I can’t really tell what a piece will look like. The next day, when I picked it up, I was very happy to have this and I immediately thought it looked like a green brain. A zombie brain! I think it is the divide in the front that makes it look like the frontal lobes of a brain. I’m not sure this image shows that very well, but it is the initial impression I got, so that’s my story and I’m sticking with it.

Shiny beads....hmmmm, tempting, I'll pass on the babies. Actually, I have no clue how to make a square one, I assume it is possible, but beyond my skill at this point.

I can personally attest to the beauty of this paperweight because I'm staring at it as I type - yay!
The dark green wrapping around the lighter green is really pretty and wispy - a nice counterpart to the heavy brain mass in the center. There also are some really nice bubbles appearing here and there.
Simply put - it's beautiful.

I wasn't sure about the colors when I was making it, but I do really like the end product. I wish the darker green was a little brighter, but it works.

Thanks! I'm really happy with the end result. We use fruit wood blocks to get the shape nice and smooth and round. I'm also happy with the photos. Late afternoon sun makes for great lighting.
