There was a rather, um, embarrassing script problem around this part (mainly, I knew I needed this scene at this point, but hadn't actually planned it beforehand as I should have done, having been planning the scene AFTER this one probably too much), and there was some productivity problems caused by an intense heat wave and stuff.
.... I'm going to attempt to whistle and pretend this page isn't few weeks late.
I'm really hoping I'll never have to draw that guard station exterior ever again.

Gaurd dog Capn isn't lookin' so hot there. But everything is so pretty and detailed. As an American English speaker however, I got completely derailed in the immersion at that text.
I had to go back and read it a few times to take it in, so to speak.

I saw your Tumblr post about looking for new ways to say "hello" in English...for the record, "G'day" is almost exclusively Australian. (Which, if the copper is generally coming from the South, could be totally appropriate...)

I love the top panel and all their expressions. But what does the smith on the far left mean by "we couldn't find any closer."? I don't understand what he means by that and the structure of that little sentence seem a bit off.

I don't think the one talking is a copper smith, just one that was sent to find copper smiths. "We couldn't find any closer" being that they couldn't find any copper smiths closer.
Just a guess, though 8'D
