Aaron must burn fragrant incense on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps. He must burn incense again when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense will burn regularly before the Lord for the generations to come.

I wonder why this had to be done. I'm sure there's a holy and good reason for it, or else it wouldn't be commanded by God nor be in His word.
But I don't understand the meaning behind incense.

Can you help me out with that, please?

Nice drawing by the way!

It is sort of difficult to explain incense in a culture where it is not that common, but it feels VERY natural in a culture where its usage is commonplace.
The worship of the Old Testament (and New) is liturgical. It involves community, but it also strives to affect all the senses. You make prostrations with your body, you see the clouds of incense and sacrifices, you hear the prayers and trumpets - why should the nose be left out of the fun?
Also, incense was expensive - burning it on a daily basis was a true sacrifice. You destroy something valuable without getting absolutely nothing in return.

Ah, I see

Well, Jesus gave His own life (of course He rose again ), knowing about billions would reject Him :/ He destroyed something most valuable; His own life, and did not expect everyone to believe in Him.

Okay, maybe that's not the best example, but anyway!

That is precisely what the incense foreshadowed.
