Description I used to adore Mozenrath, the villain from the old TV series for Aladdin. I loved his voice actor, too, and in a fit of nostalgia went looking for my old Mozey haunts. I looked up Silvestris and Wendy Lee fanart and fanfics, and looked him up on Wikipedia only to discover that the voice actor, Jonathon Brandis, had committed suicide some years ago. I really had no idea. I am clueless.
Anyways, I got on a Mozenrath kick and started playing him in an off-the-record kind of game with my girlfriend, and while I was at it I finally got around to some fanart. I don't think I could have done near this well back when the series was around. I'm not entirely happy with this and may do some finishing touches and reupload. The border needs some kind of dark edging, for instance. Open to constructive criticism, hopefully limited to things I can actually fix at this late stage. It's a bit of a break for me to not do any linework, but I like the way his face came out.

Prismacolor pencil.

Thanks! He's easier to draw in the cartoon style, but for some reason I really wanted to try my hand at a realistic version.

Disney gets really obnoxious about releases in that they won't package something like that unless they're really sure they can make enough profit on it. Gargoyles Season 2 is hung up halfway through for just that reason. They decided to release it in two parts, and then the first part hasn't made them enough money so they've never released the second half.

It always seems to me that Gargoyls has a huge and ongoing fanbase, but I guess Disney has high financial standards...

yes mayube, but there is no excuse of delaying the release of the Aladdin TV series on DVD already! It's really starting to annoy me! -_-

Hey. I love your Mozenrath fanart; really like the shading and the background. I think I got back into this series around the same time you did, last spring. I actually have a Moze fanfic that's ongoing, if you are bored and curious It's sucking up my life at the moment.

I think I stumbled across that before, maybe when you'd just started it... I'll go back and reread!

This is really cool - although I don't know the character. I love the rich blues and golds you used in this one - pastel is really hard to work with and you did a great job!! I'm not if I can help you out with the border though! I have no idea what would look better!

Pastel is really hard to work with... which is why I haven't in years. This was done with prismacolor pencils, which are really smooth to begin with, and then there's a colorless blender pencil. It wears the pencils down fast, putting that strong color down, but if you haven't played with that brand I highly recommend it. The colors come out so amazingly vibrant I'm not surprised it confused you.

Ha ha Ok I've heard of Prismacolour a lot on DA but I'm not sure if we have that brand over here in Aus. I've never seen them floating around.... but I suppose I never really had a proper look for them :S

Thankyou for enlightening me

Try Misterart.com? They're not cheap, but they're worth it. The markers are wonderful too, very smooth consistent color.
