Honestly I was quite disappointed, because it's yet another Fire Emblem rep, when it could've been someone from a new series instead.

I personally wouldn’t have been so outraged about it if Byleth wasn’t the LAST character in the pass. Fighters 1-4? I’d be a little pissed that yet another FE character made the cut when we could have gotten someone like Doomguy, Steve or Sora, but I would at least have another character to look forward to.
Byleth as the LAST fighter though? Nah. During the presentation I was honestly hoping and expecting a fake out or announcement that Byleth was a bonus fighter to go alongside the actual fifth fighter, not the last fighter themselves!
Byleth’s inclusion as the last fighter isn’t ending the pass with a bang or even a whimper: it’s ending it on fucking white noise.

Think the worse outrage was because Byleth was the last. Had they swapped this character with say banjo at the end the reception would have bin much better.Also the fact everyone else was third party did not help either as most were thinking the last character would be third party , and that the next dlc pack would be first party.

Yeah but at least we knew Joker was coming sometime AFTER the plant. Plus Plant was a bonus fighter whereas Byleth is fighter 5 straight up.

Well. I admit if elt dissaopinted a little with the reveal.
However
I am genuinely surprisedat the outcome since even since the DLC pass was annuonced, there was no longer a surprise factor. And Byleth looks interesting to try either way.
Byleth, dont let the hatred and anger ruin everything. And i admit i am guilty of having a bias since...well, my wishlist for chars was mostly involving Capcom Ips.
EIther way, congrats to Byleth ad may the char enjoy the stay in Smash.

Byleth: Great... Now FE has as much non-echo representation as Mario and Pokemon. Did they really need more? I thought this DLC was about bringing in new IPs.
I'm sure that those who played their game are excited for the character. But there was a theme to the prior paid DLC, and to get not just a current IP, but one with a bunch of representation already...
