I asked permission to draw this portrait some 9 months ago - I have only just got around to finishing it (don't worry it didn't take me 9 months to draw
) The title is based upon the fact that the baby was only 9 days old when the photograph was taken - so I thought it was as good a title as any - I loved the pose by such a young baby, as if it is taking the world in its stride and observing exactly what is going on - the photographer is an extremely talented lady called Monika monikha.deviantart.com : please check out here brilliant work, but as always - check with her before using anything as they are not stock images.

Drawn on A3 size Bristol Board smooth, with 2 pencils, a blender and an eraser - simple art

Yep. Β It takes a mother or father's heart to say any baby is truly beautiful, especially after the trauma/miracle of birth. Β Give 'em time and they get prettier.

I'mΒ not a parent, but I honestly find every baby beautiful - even the premature or deformed ones. I love little kids and babies more than anything, and yes, they look weird, but never ugly. I know several people, including some of my siblings, who think they're ugly though. :/

Ah, then you have a parent's heart. Β I always believe babies are beautiful. Β Only a few have not been beautiful. Β Those tend to be cute though.

I know I do. Ever since I was little and my brother was born I've loved babies and little kids. I'm fifteen now, so obviously no babies for several years, but I try to work with kids as much as possible.

My apologies for not replying to your beautiful work yesterday, Paul - I've been absolutely busy over the last 48 hours or so, and I'm just getting around to viewing my message box art now
I love the expression on the baby's face, which is quietly contemplative, as well as curiosity for the photographer who took the original photograph, and you have captured the likeness on a level that just makes me go: 
My eyes are constantly drawn to the right-hand, which seems to be playing with his ear - there is just such a sense of awesome body language within this pose that makes me sigh, at the sheer brilliance of your skill as a traditional artist!

The skill is all the photographers - how she got a baby of just 9 days old to 'pose' so perfectly for the shot I will never know? I merely rubbed some graphite powder on a piece of paper
