Hey! I'm from ProjectComment.
I really love this piece Particularly the background and the detail you put into it. The stars, the bg-- even the little touches like the slight blue lighting on the woman's (your? you said it was a self-portrait?) hair.
However, the faces and hair could use some improvement-- although this is a good starting place. The anatomy isn't really off-- it's quite good. I think it's the shading that throws it off a bit and you could work on that. First of all, there isn't a lot of dark shading except in specific places, meaning there are some areas that just look a bit blank. For example, the curve of the woman's cheek is very dark and a single line-- blending it in more might help, because it look like that area is sticking out very far. Also, some of the shading is unnaturally placed-- particularly the woman's cheek again, as you shaded around it like a circle, even though it should connect to the skin behind. Connecting to the shading, I think there should be some more on the hair, as it doesn't really match with the clothes and the background. They both have so much detailed shading that the faces and the hair feel a bit off. Adding more darker strands that fit the curve of the hair would help a lot with that, particularly on the little girl. You seem to have a great grasp of the motion of the hair (the shape of the girl's hair is so good omg), so I think it's just a matter of adding a lot of darker shading. This also includes the eyebrows, which are just one color and very dark. A bit of shading or defined hairs would help them look more natural. For the face, I think the same principal needs to be applied-- more darker and more blended shading.
Those were really some of the only flaws I found with it. I love this piece! After looking at it more, I really like the little girl's expression-- you really captured the facial features of a child, right down to her lips. And the shading and detail on the coat and gloves look very interesting because they have texture. If the face and hair matched that level of detail, I think that'd help.
But this is a wonderful piece regardless. You should be very proud! And your art will only improve from here. i look forward to seeing where it goes
