Romance is great, but real love is all about promises kept.
Bruce and Shirlee (Corky's sister), two of my favorite people in the known universe.
We were there in November 2013 for Thanksgiving. Shirlee's cancer had come back with a vengeance. We all knew she did not have a lot of time left. She died in March. The original pancreatic cancer tumor was completely dormant but it had metastasized all over her body. It was the lung cancer that finally took her, but if it hadn't, something else soon would have.
We had a canvas print of this photograph at her memorial service. Bruce told me he didn't even remember me taking it.

I'm not prone to writing crits (as you know) - but this was an easy instant fav for me. It's perfectly spontaneous. Male is showing genuine love and happiness with his partner. Lady is showing genuine comfort and peacefulness with her man. It is a crackin' shot! A photographer could never pose this type of work. I applaud you for seeing it and capturing it. Well done mate.
Technically, I like the shallow DOF, and the somewhat "noisy" background - they work an absolute treat. The light on the subjects is perfect. It is a very well executed shot.
I honestly can not fault the shot....

I remember Shirlee from when you and Corky got married. Β (Yeah, that was a while ago...) Β Glad you have had such a great friendship with them, and now can stand with them through thick and thin... Β I remember her telling me how she had escaped from her burning home by putting pillowcases over her mouth and running out the back door. Β I thought her life was a miracle then. Β I guess it still is...
