judging by the beard, one would say Kili is the youngest. However, the theory goes down the cliff when we see the portrait of wee-lad Gimli, who must be maybe 8 or 9 in that picture, and has far more beard than Kili does... So, there goes that idea!

Most probably. OR a third option.. that maybe the goblin king thought Ori was the youngest.

What about Bilbo??? ... Oh sorry I just noticed he hadn't been there at that time (silly me)
And yes Kili is the youngest (72 or so I think) ... but Ori does look a little more ,uhm, childish?
....Furthermore you can't have a minor badboy in a movie, huh?

Maybe the similarities can be explained with some kind of secret court ceremonial for non-friendly Middle Earth kings...?
I step into the light and (before Smaug roasts me) I admit that I'm not actually an elf-hater but indeed I don't consider them to be as glorious as they seem considering themselves to be.

After seeing Thranduil, I was brutally reminded that, yes, there were people like Feanor in the past. They liked starlight, oh yes indeedy, but they also liked fresh, warm blood on their hands. Bleh.

Seems I was not the only one wanting the elfs to take a hike and for Legolassie (yes I called him that) to bugger of home to his own book?
Of the seven people I've gone to see the movie with (only seen it twice) only ONE does not agree that what she's looking forward to the most in part 3 is for Tauriel to DROP DEAD already! It' is in her top three though. ;-P

Excatly! Yes that.
I don't hate the charecter of Tauriel, as you said she actually Works quite well..to a point!
But it's that Athalas scene, it belittelse LOTR, Elrond and Aragorn if you ask me.
And the fight in Lake Town as well. Ehm, hello? Where did Fíli go? One shove and he's Down for the rest of the fight? Even Bards youngest was tougher than that! I don't think he was armed so well only for the value of the steel in the blades now was he?
I would prefere if there wereNO Kili/Tauriel, since that is COMPLETELY not in the book, it's not a romance book Mr Jackson, hmpf! But yes the scene in thedoungeon was pretty okay, even if the design of the doungon was also wrong, wrong wrong sompared to thebook, and that every other dawrf would haveheard what Kili and Tauriel was talking about.
Oh and we agree Legolas is a spoiled brat, in FOTR as well, at least he starts out that way, he mellows as the movies Progress.
