It's because they belong to dwarf children. See those are doll clothes!
That's the real reason why the Elf King didn't want the dwarrow to return to the Mountain, he knew those blasted runts would start their tricks again.
Surprisingly, despite the fact he's a dragon, Smaug was a better neighbor to Thranduil than the dwarrow were...
