arctoa [2008-08-14 00:51:53 +0000 UTC]

A powerful piece of work with a brooding atmosphere, despite the minimalist composition (which is something else I am fond of in this piece). What sort of filtering did you use to keep the light levels low enough for such a dark long exposure?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pedroinacio In reply to arctoa [2009-10-25 11:59:58 +0000 UTC]

I used ND filters. The light come from the cloud lightened stripes.

nice work, mate. btw, grain sucks - just kidding, i happen to love grain (fine grain like this as opposed to coarse).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pedroinacio In reply to mjtomlin [2008-07-13 23:31:54 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I don't like coarse grain, but a fair bit of it it's great, more organic images I believe.

thetopcrusader [2008-07-12 19:56:04 +0000 UTC]

A bit grainy, but the subtle contrast looks awesome.

pedroinacio In reply to thetopcrusader [2008-07-12 20:22:17 +0000 UTC]

Yes, grainy it is
As I said below I will add grain from now on.

detail24 [2008-07-12 19:46:57 +0000 UTC]

could you share some technical details, like the exposure time? is it just me, or did you do that shot with an analog camera? grain fits very well though!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pedroinacio In reply to detail24 [2008-07-12 20:20:21 +0000 UTC]

The exposure time was four and a half minutes.
Lol no, I photograph only with my Canon 5D.
I added grain using a Tmax400 negative as a layer, because I really love grain.
From now on I will add grain to all my images, digital files are too perfect.

woopidoo2 In reply to pedroinacio [2008-07-13 19:02:19 +0000 UTC]

..Why add grain?
I mean, shots like these look best smooth in my opinion.
But hey, its not up to me what to do with your photos

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pedroinacio In reply to woopidoo2 [2008-07-13 21:40:56 +0000 UTC]

Well, old memories of old photos.
I believe that grain add a more organic feel, the images look more alive I think...
