Description

"Maintenant, tenez-vous tranquille!"

I totally forgot that I only uploaded this one to Facebook

Charles Jules EdmΓ©e Brongniart was born in 1859 in Paris as the grandson of the famous paleo botanist Adolphe Brongniart. He first studied Literature and Natural Sciences and became a doctor in 1894. His Dissertation was on fossil Insect and got an award from the Academie des Sciences. He was an expert on Insects from the cole mine of Commentry. It was there that in the 1880s a large dragonfly from the Carboniferous was unearthed. The magnificent animal that reached a wingspan of almost 70 cm was names Meganeura by Brongniart referring to the large veins on its wings.

That net is smaller than the dragonfly's wingspan, if he catches it there's probably gonna be some injuries.

In early August I visited a coal swamp in Florida - that is the closest you get to carboniferous environment in the modern world

see you even look like a paleontologist already

Yeah, this guy does not seem to famous (the german Wikipedia article even falsly atributes the discovery to his father)

Thank you

BeskarKnight In reply to Pelycosaur24 [2017-01-07 12:51:56 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I guess I do

Well expect mostly USA paleontologist (getting popculture attention and support) not many other countries paleontologist are really famous or well known, here is Europe we especially lack such prominent figures, Even the new Spinosaurus discoveries were attributed to US paleontolgy, when it is not an animal anywhere found on the american continent... they just simply have superior resorcues and commitment to do this kind of resharce and then of course they get the credit too.

NP you are welcome as always!Β
