I just looked up Franz Joseph I and the King from Cinderella does look similar to him although he is a bit fatter than Franz was and you were right about one Franz’s uniforms resembling the Prince’s uniform. So it could take place in Austria-Hungary or somewhere close to it. Possibly along the border with it.

There origin story for Cinderella can trace back to classic era in ancient Greek version "Rhodopis" to dark version "The Story of Tảm and Cảm" in Vietnamese version and "Ye Xian" or "Beauty and Pock Face(Facebook...)" in Chinese version.
French got two version: Le Fresne and Finette Cendron
Hack even 1001 Arabian Night, Norwegian, Scot, French, Slavic-Finnish, Romanian have own tale of poor maid and evil stepsister too.
As for this, She served with Austrians volunteers army during US Civil War or after 1867 with Mexican royalist force as an nurse.

Got to say but I really love the uniforms of Aurora and Ariel.
I once read/heard (been years) that men's clothing used to button or fasten the same way as women's. But it swapped for a very real practical consideration (which was probably adopted by other classes of men over the years). The odds of having the sword catch (think pommel and cross guard) when drawing it are far higher when it is fasten right over left!

I cannot get over how fantastic Cindy looks in the Prince's outfit (or any outfit similar to it). The vast contrast between feminine and masculine mixes and balances so well here! Bravo.

Fantastic outfit, and the historical references are very welcome. It's very cool to find your gallery. I love ideas like these with the history slant, especially with uniforms. So thanks so much for sharing it.

Nice uniform and pose and even with the Order of the Golden Fleece, fits all for (austrian) royalty ^^ .
The contrast between her blonde hair and the blue uniform with grey trousers just adds to her appearance right.
Luckily, she won't suffer the same fate as poor Prince Franz Ferdinand, who wore a similar uniform in his last moments...
Austrian military music ? Hmm... Radetzky Marsch, Mir sein die Kaiserjäger, Hoch- und Deutschmeister... I like it, even though I prefer prussian-german marches, at least ^^
Which other princesses do you have in mind, if I may ask ?
