Description G3.5 styled Applejack and Applebloom.

The generation's style was not well-recieved. Collectors voiced their dislike of the "turtle look" and the demographic neither saw their appeal, leaving the generation an unsuccessful one.
When I first saw the art for G4, I had a far more negative reaction than with G3.5. Seeing it animated helped a lot. Drawing fanart made me understand the designs.
Yet, without ever seeing the style in motion or drawing fanart to understand the art, people kept bashing on the G3.5 style.
So I thought I should try it out.

And I found there was nothing but pure love poured into these designs.
You should give it a shot too. I promise, it's fun.

I Think G3.5 is cute but the toys look weird (not the ponyville figures)

What if Lauren didn't create Generation 4.

Yeah! I bought a G3.5 Pinkie Pie on a fleemarket and I must say I really love how she looks. Her hair is also less likely to get stuck between the neck and head, like with the G4's, because her head is too big to allow such a thing.

I assume it was Hasbro's marketing technique that caused them to be unsuccessful...or the sudden shift from G3 "realistic" ponies to something "chibi".

...I guess the latter! After 3 gens of horsey ponies, the chibi ones looked like a waverider on the upcoming anime hype...

People said G3 belonged to the era which had a more "tomboyish" approach. Strawberry Shortcake and Minty had this vibe. Than we got the overly chibi approach with Littlest Pet Shop and My little Pony g3.5. Now, I guess were in some sort of animesque slapstick limbo with the current Littlest pet shop and MLP. It all changes so much yet I can hardly imagine we'd ever drastically sway from the current style of things.

Tomboyish or not, I meant mostly the appearance...the daughter of my cousin is also a big horse-fan, but she likes horsey horses more than the too cartoonish ones, even if they're candy coloured...

I love G3.5. Besides, G4 is based on G3.5, there is not much difference - more balance in case of proportions but otherwise - make G4 3D and you'll get sth which will resemble G3.5. very closely

Yep. But due to the obnoxious bashing of pre-gens by bronies, specifically G3, people may have gone blind to the resemblance.

Still I don't know why G3.5 was such an unsuccessful line.

Yeah. People don't even try to think for themselves. If sb says that G3.5 is ugly then it must be true. Cause that's how people's logic works, sadly

Awwww! Well they're still cute, they don't have the weird eyes or the somewhat creepy faces. The only real similarity I see is the tiny and thinner bodies and the giant lower hooves. They're still cute.

While I'm not to big on the G3.5 style, it's nice to see some appreciation for it. (Admittedly I thought the G4 Lauren Faust style looked odd to, at first, but then it grew on me.)
Nice work translating Applejack, and her li'l sis' to that style while still keeping them recognizable. They still look in-character here, and I like their cute facial expressions. Applebloom's expression looks a li'l funny, but that's why I love it.

Especially doing their hair was fun. G3.5 used this hairstyle with ponytails and pigtails to have youthfull look. AJ and Applebloom would thus easily work with a slight reinterpretation. (I was too busy laughing about Bloom's face though)
Thanks!
