I like your addition quite a bit.
Two things I've noticed that are different from my short story. (Though you are the artist of the work so it's not much of a bother.) 

1.) The assumption that both have a western Texan accent. I originally only gave the accent to one of the men while the other did not have such an accent, I did it just for variation. You seem to enjoy the idea of both having it. Which is fine and normal to me because I live in the southern states.

2.) That this place in space is not confined to the solar system. I originally thought of it as simply a colony in our stellar backyard (Such as when I used the name of the ship "Provider of Mons" naming it after the martian mountain, Olympus Mons and "The Big Red" being an in story nickname for Mars itself.) but when you added the line "get back to a simpler life and watch the twin sunsets over my fields." it made me think of the travelers being a bit more spread out in our galactic home.
