Description Some stories say that the centaurs were born of Zeus and the cloud Nephele, but in truth, Zeus created them himself, with his magic, by transforming orphans, beggars, and derelicts into his new wild, untamed race.  He then abandoned the cave and the magic that birthed them, returning to Mount Olympus.

But soon after, a girl named Callista had been betrothed to another against her will — an arranged marriage — and she fled into the mountains.  There she stumbled upon a hiding place, a deep cavern hidden high in a craggy hillside.  And Callista found that the Fates had arranged for her a new future:  For to her surprise, the lost magic of the centaurs could still be found, and upon her touch, it triggered.

In time, she would grow accustomed to her new form, and the lines of Clotho would lead her to a young centaur man named Chiron.  She would fall in love with him, and long before Lachesis would measure her thread, much less Atropos cut it, Callista would bear the wisest of centaurs four sons and five daughters.  And even though the histories the humans wrote would omit her ever afterward, she would one day be revered among her kind as the Great Mother, the first and most beauteous.

So, hey, some storytelling to go with what's really just a transformation sequence:  Callista finds some magic unexpectedly in a cave, and it turns her into a centauress.  But it turns out okay in the end, because she marries a cute centaur boy, and they live happily-ever-after and have a big family.  *shrug*  It's what I like >_>

Anyway, I drew this on-and-off over the last few weeks, an hour a day here or there, and finally finished the last (top center) panel tonight.  This is entirely CorelDRAW with a mouse, and I'm not sure how much time, but it's definitely a lot.

I can never get a mouse to draw something like this for me. They just keep running away! ;3

I love comics so a really well drawn transformations sequence like this easily falls into the same category. The images tells the story with no need for further explanation, but I gotta say, that bit of storytelling there did feel like some  translation from some actual old ancient Greek myth.
