So I was cruising around the pokemon community and looked at some of the comments about the starters that people wanted for Pokemon Sun and Moon. Some people wanted the starters to be based on the Chinese zodiac. A fire ox, a dolphin even though we never had a dolphin in the games and isn't in the zodiac but whatever and I didn't see what the grass starter should be so i put in a rabbit. The Capricorn pokemon was a substitution for a snake plus it is in the horoscope so i hope people aren't too upset about that.Its FAKE ,These are just my interpretations based on opinions and such out of randomness. Honestly I'm going to go with the fire starter regardless...unless its fire/fighting again.

These are pretty cool. I haven't seen Sun or Moon starters yet (as have any of us - cries in the corner, asking: why no show for starters nintendo?!) , but I wish some starters, like these, were real. Anyhow, nice work, so have nice days peeps!

if they continue to fire starter trend of being a part of the chinese zodiac, it means that the firs starter will likely either be based off a rabbit, sheep, horse, snake, tiger, or ox.
but who knows what plan they have for the other two.

If Game Freak were following the Chinese Zodiac pattern for Fire Starter pokémons, we would have had now something like a fire Raticate and a fire Stoutland as starters, because you cannot say that the Cyndaquil line is based on mice, because obviously Cyndaquil is an echidna and the others are based on honey badgers, weasels and wolverines. And Delphox is definiteley not a dog, and you cannot say that dogs and foxes/fennecs are the same thing
And also we already have a wonderful fire horse line, and an amazing snake starter!

just because it follows the zodiac does not mean it follows it exactly and to the exact order of the years
cyndaquil is also called the fire mouse pokemon officially, so it is a rodent. (year of the rat)
Charmander evolves into a dragon (year of the dragon)
Foxes are still a part of the canine family, so yea fennekin's line can count (year of the dog)
And then you got the obvious rest: torchic, chimchar and tepig (rooster, monkey and pic respectively)
the zodiac thing merely is just the basis of the fire staters, it does not mean we get it exactly 100% perfect on the nose type of pokemon each time.
cause really for all we know the tiger rep could be a normal looking cat that evolves into a manticore, the ox could be a cow that goes into a minotaur, and the snake rep could get a dragon typing later on too.

I agree only with the second part.
Cyndaquil is called "fire mouse pokemon" but is obviously not based on a rodent, since echidnas are monotremes, while honey badgers, wolverines and weasels are of the family Mustelidae.
Foxes are not part of the canine family, they belong to the family Canidae and the species are assigned to the genus Vulpes, while dogs are still belonging to the family Canidae but the genus is Canis.
In addition, foxes and dogs have really big different roles in the Chinese mythology. I'm sure that Game Freak would not have confused something that important in the culture of a country

I thought it was the Western Zodiac. The fire starter was Aries. The water starter was Capricorn. But I was so confused on on the grass starter. I thought it could evolve into a scorpion rabbit for Scorpio?
But with it being the Chinese zodiac. The water starter could evolve to be more sheep/goat like or even dragon.
